Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Easter Baskets and Bonnets

The creation of an Easter bonnet is a fun way to keep up the Christian tradition of wearing new clothes at Easter, in harmony with the renewal of the year and the promise of spiritual renewal and redemption. Our residents just loved creating their very own bonnets and wearing them with pride over the weekend.

Our in-home Easter basket making competition was won by the joint 'choctastic' efforts of Paul and Myrtle... simply yummy!

Easter Decorations & Celebrations

Our residents had a wonderful time heling to decorate the home and dining hall for our Easter Sunday lunch. With pretty pussy willow table displays and hand drawn and crafted Happy Easter wreath and egg tree.

They wrote personal messages on egg shapes to show everyone what they are most proud of and share good wishes to one another.

Chef and the hospitality team served a eggs'tra special dinner with all the trimmings, as we raised a glass to everyone for 'peace on earth'

The Hill Spring Fest

We enjoyed a super day at The Hill Community Centre's 'Spring Fest' on Thursday 14th April. The staff and residents of Glebefields Care Home provided the prizes for the Easter Bonnet competition.

All the attending children and families have a fun-filled time, with circus tricks and chasing the bunny around the field. It was smiles all around the whole day through.

We'd like to send a big thank you to the group leaders for our invite, and all the amazing children for taking part in the Easter Bonnet parade - You all looked fabulous!

Egg-citing Community Egg Hunt

Staff, residents and guests at Barchester’s Glebefields care home, in Drayton Village, Banbury, celebrated Easter with an Easter Egg Hunt around the home gardens.

Glebefields residents have enjoyed an eggs-tensive range of Easter activities, from mindfulness colouring to creating Easter decorations to brighten the gardens and create holders for the hundreds of chocolate eggs hiding in the trees and tubs.

We received a wonderful donation of freshly made muffins from the Banbury based ‘Muffin Break’ shop in Castle Quay Shopping Centre, that added to the ice cream and home-bakes provided by the Glebefields hospitality team for all our guests to enjoy.

General Manager, Nisha Shaji said: “As always, we’ve all been looking forward to Easter. It’s such a nice time of the year and now our homes refurbishment is complete it was an eggs-cellent opportunity for us to invite the local community to view the home, meet the team and have super fun with the residents. It was so eggs-citing to have visitors, eggs-pecially seeing so many young ones having fun!

We had a tremendous fun-filled day. Residents Myrtle, Paul, Bert, Alvar and Edith all commented: “We’ve probably all eaten too much chocolate! It was wonderful to see so many new faces, we really enjoyed meeting all the children, and that naughty Easter Bunny.” AKA Senior Care Assistant; Prabhu.
