Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jubilee Arts & Crafts
Whether you like to cut out intricate butterflies or prefer sticking into a design, we all enjoyed creating this Union Jack picture in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee during our weekly arts & crafts activity.
It looks so beautiful with the individual butterflies fluttering gently in the breeze.
Invitation to Royal reception
The Glebefields team and our residents wish to send a huge congratulations to Senior Carer; Prabhu Natarajan who has been invited to a royal reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
Prabhu is such a 'good man' always ready to go above and beyond for the local community, and our home.
We're so lucky to have him, and his beautiful wife Shilpa - Deputy Manager as members of our amazing team!
Celebrating World Bee Day
Our residents were buzzing when they celebrated World Bee Day on May 20th.
We had a bee-rilliant time creating chocolate and honey rice cakes and enjoying fresh fruit drizzled with honey and oat biscuits courtesy of chef with afternoon tea.
Kay sat with the group and we learnt all about bees and their importance to us all; did you know?
Three out of four food crops across the globe rely on bees and other pollinators but those pollinators are under threat from human activities!
We'll be making a bee home for the garden and planting some bee friendly flowers in the gardens to do our bit to save this amazing little creature.
Shona's 100 mile cycle race
A brave member of staff from Barchester Healthcare’s Glebefields care home in Banbury is taking on the gruelling Ride100 cycle race across London and Essex to raise money for Barchester's Charitable Foundation. The Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.
On Sunday 29 May, Project Coordinator, Shona Conway will don her lycra, climb into the saddle and use pedal power to complete the 100 mile cycle from Victoria Embankment, across London and out to Essex, and then back to the finish line at Tower Bridge.
No stranger to a fitness challenge, Shona completed the Virtual London Marathon last year, again raising funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation but this is the first time she has been on two wheels instead of two feet. This is definitely a whole new world but Shona is determined to complete the race.
If you would like to support her, please visit https://ridelondon.enthuse.com/pf/shona-conway all donations will be very gratefully received.
Shona comments: “It is going to be tough, I haven’t done much cycling before but I’m really excited to take part and I’m hoping to raise lots of money for the Foundation. I know all the staff, residents, relatives and visitors at Glebefields are behind me and their support plus my own grit and determination will help me get round!”

Grand Opening Event
Thank you to everyone who joined the residents and staff at Glebefields for this Saturdays' Grand Opening event.
Visitors were welcomed to view the home’s stylish new interior and take a tour of the home at the VIP event. Nestled in the charming village of Drayton near Banbury, Glebefields is an impressive stone-built former rectory, overlooking miles of countryside in an area known for its outstanding natural beauty, including the adjacent Norman Parish Church of St. Peter.
The home remained open, and welcoming residents throughout the major refurbishment which started on 17th May 2021 and completed in April 2022. This Saturday 14th May, 2022 we officially opened the doors in sunshine and style, with a VIP ribbon cutting ceremony performed by the Mayor of Banbury; Councillor Shaida Hussain.
The home’s hospitality team provided complimentary refreshments and a tasty spread of healthy snacks as guests were entertained with a live performance of classical music from the King and Rackham Duo. The homes General Manager; Nisha was available to answer any questions guests had about finding the right home and about the services offered at Glebefields care home.
Nisha Shaji, Glebefields General Manager said: “The home is looking better than ever after the recent investment and it was a pleasure to showcase the elegant new interior at the Grand Opening event. My door is always open and anyone who couldn’t make it to the Open Day is very welcome to drop by for a cup of tea any other day instead.”
Speaking at the opening event, Councillor Shaida Hussain, said: “I am delighted to be here to officially open Glebefields care home, it’s wonderful that Barchester is investing with such confidence in the future of care in the county – that investment will ensure, not only top quality facilities, up-to-date accommodation and high standards of care, but also jobs, trainings and a boost to the local economy.”
