Activities at Harper Fields Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Harper Fields Care Home

Dogs Trust
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.
Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

RAF Hendon
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.
Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.
The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

110th Birthday party at Cubbington Mill
Harper fields sister home, Cubbington Mill invited our residents to a very special birthday party this month. John who is a resident at Cubbington Mill celebrated his 110th birthday.
We were ecstatic to be invited. Those residents who wanted to attend were able to as Harper fields have their own mini bus. Volunteer driver Stuart happily drove us to the party. As the celebrations went on and the prosecco was poured we were able to meet and make lots of new friends. Cllr Alix Dearing Kenilworth Abbey, Mayor of Kenilworth couldn’t resist a cheeky photo opportunity with Alan from Harper fields.

#Barchesterpets story
Wow, Huge congratulations to Kempton residential resident Joan Rogers aged 97 on being one of the four winners in the Barchester pets competition.
After a reminiscing group about our pets, Joan said she would love to enter the competition. Not to win but to let everyone know about one of her much loved pet dogs ‘Sam’
Joan put pen to paper and wow, her story about the cheeky dog emerged. We think the bit about sunbathing and Sam trailing down the village with a deckchair was really funny. Especially as the ladies had to catch him. Harper fields residents have all enjoyed reading Joan’s story about ‘Sam’. Joan is now quite famous around Harper fields.

Telegram from HRH King Charles and Queen Camilla
Agnes Bell is Harper fields first resident to receive a 100th Birthday Telegram from HRH King Charles and HRH Queen Camilla.
Agnes was overjoyed to be the first resident here to receive The Telegram with King Charles and Queen Camilla on the front. Written inside was ‘My wife and I are so pleased to know that you are celebrating your one hundredth birthday on 3rd June 2023. This brings our warmest congratulations and heartfelt good wishes on such a special occasion.
Her face, when she opened the envelope was priceless. Agnes had a fabulous birthday party with all her family and friends. Our amazing Hospitality Chef Olivia
Created the most wonderful three tier chocolate birthday cake as she knows Agnes loves chocolate.

Pets at the Palaces
Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.
Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.
Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes. It was a truly lovely time for all.
