Activities at Harper Fields Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

Great Gatsby Open Day at Harper Fields
What an incredible afternoon we had at our Great Gatsby–themed Open Day! Our Activities Team worked tirelessly to transform the concert room into a glamorous 1920s setting – and it looked absolutely stunning.
Our Hospitality Team also pulled out all the stops, serving delicious food and plenty of bubbly Prosecco, adding that extra touch of sparkle to the celebration.
Families, residents, and guests enjoyed a truly special day, with music, laughter, and joy. The highlight for many was our wonderful singer Rebecca, whose performance had everyone tapping their feet and singing along. Thank you so much. The residents were really impressed!
Here’s what some of our lovely families had to say:

A big thank you to our residents, families, and both our Activities and Hospitality Teams for making this day so memorable.

Violinist Gail
Yesterday’s afternoon was truly special as we welcomed Gail, a talented violinist, to perform for our residents. Her beautiful music filled the room with warmth and emotion, touching hearts in ways words can’t describe.
One unforgettable moment was seeing Agnes gently moving to the sound of “I Did It My Way”—a song that seemed to speak directly to her spirit. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as we watched music bring so much joy and connection.
Thank you, Gail, for sharing your gift and creating such a memorable, emotional afternoon for everyone.

Caribbean theme open day
We had an amazing day yesterday for our carnival-themed open day. Well done everyone involved, lots of fun, laughter and singing! Enjoying the beautiful weather, beautiful BBQ, popcorn and candy floss and an ice-cream parlour!
Lemonade and cocktail stand! Whole home approach to becoming a singer! Jamie, you were amazing residents and really enjoyed the good mixture of music you sang.

Minibus trip to Hatton
Lovely trip to Hatton for our residents! We’re so lucky to have our minibus and have Hatton Country World on our doorstep.
We enjoyed looking at the beautiful flowers and having a pit stop in the coffee shop. Residents have seen a few changes and brought back memories from when they were younger!

A special milestone at Harper Fields
We’re so delighted to share that, on a Friday, we welcomed our very first member into the “Don’t Dine Alone Club” here at Harper Fields. A lovely lady called Cheryl joined us and this is what she said: “I visited Harper Field's Care Home for lunch. It's a welcoming building with easy parking. The whole feel of the home is warm and welcoming. The decor and furnishings are of a high standard and very much a home. I was warmly welcomed by Emma, who was running the residents' activities. She showed me to the dining room where I had a delightful lunch with Agnes, their oldest resident. She was delightful company. The meal was hot, very appetising and delicious. I had tomato and red pepper soup followed by fish and chips. The desert proved too much for me, but Agnes tucked into her Tiramisu with gusto. I was very impressed with the standard of both the food and the beautifully laid out dining room. I shall certainly take up the offer again and was very impressed with the high standard of the staff, the quality of the food and the friendly atmosphere.”
This wonderful initiative is all about ensuring that no one in our community ever feels alone — especially during life’s most important moments. It’s a beautiful reflection of the love, care, and companionship that makes Harper Fields feel like family every single day. Here’s to kindness, connection, and making sure every heart is surrounded by care.

Staying Active, Staying Happy!
At Harper Fields, we believe that keeping active is just as important as feeling at home. Gentle movement, daily activities, and social interaction help our residents maintain independence, boost their mood, and support overall wellbeing.
Whether it’s a stroll in the garden, light chair exercises, arts & crafts, or a singalong session, every activity brings joy, connection, and a sense of purpose.
Staying active isn’t just about physical health – it’s about laughter, friendships, and making every day meaningful.

Oakes farmshop
What a lovely little outing today!
We hopped on the mini bus and headed to Oaks Farm Shop. The weather may have been a bit windswept, but it didn’t dampen our spirits one bit. We warmed up with delicious flat whites, wandered around the shop taking in all the local goodies, and even found ourselves reminiscing about our wedding dresses – such lovely memories shared!
Thank you to the staff at Oakes Farm Shop. They always go above and beyond for our residents.

Balsall Common Choir performance
Balsall common choir came to see us and gave our residents a great performance, our residents really enjoyed singing along, Thank you so much!

Fish and chip Friday with a twist!
Today at Harper Fields we had our fish and chip Friday with a beautiful traditional twist. Our residents loved the idea of having their fish and chips with chip newspaper in a box!
“This is a nice change, it’s like being at the seaside”- Agnes.
Our hospitality team worked really hard putting it all together and loved seeing the residents' faces when they were placed on the tables. You can clearly see the joy it has brought to them! Well done team!

Afternoon tea in our private dining room
Today we hosted our very first Monthly Afternoon Tea — and what a lovely afternoon it was!
Residents gathered in our beautiful private dining room with their families to enjoy delicious scones with clotted cream and jam, mini cakes, and sandwiches, along with plenty of laughter and conversation. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, friendship, and the comforting clink of teacups.
We’re delighted to share that this will now be a regular event, held on the first Monday of every month. A wonderful way to come together, relax, and celebrate the simple joys of good company and great tea. We can’t wait for the next one!

Intergenerational Play at Harper Fields
Nature makers Play group join Harper Fields once a month for fun and laughter, joy and excitement! Residents loved having the children at the home.
Watching them play and learn made our residents really happy- they took part in making music with natural sources, morning full of fun-looking forward to the next time!

One to one moments
At Harper Fields, we believe that every resident deserves not just great care, but meaningful connections.
Taking time to sit down, listen, and share stories one-to-one is at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s reminiscing about treasured memories, out for a walk, playing scrabble together, or simply sharing a cup of tea and a chat, these moments create joy and a sense of belonging.
Individual time isn’t just an activity—it’s an opportunity to build trust, support emotional well-being, and celebrate each resident as the unique person they are. Because here, every moment matters.

Wish Fulfilment
Today we made a wish come true for our resident, Jean. She wanted morning tea in the sunshine with her family's wish granted. At the end of the tea party, Jean said to her daughter, “That was a lovely tea party.”
Thank you to Sonia for making all the special goodies.

Agnes’s 102nd Birthday
On Tuesday 3rd June we celebrated Agnes’s 102nd birthday!
