Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home
Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.
Caroline Evans
Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.
I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.
I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Hethersett Hall Care Home
Halloween Fun!
Our residents enjoyed music from the fabulous Splash Duo for their Halloween party. During the performance, we served spooky-themed cocktails such as Vampires Kiss and Witches Brew. It was a fantastic atmosphere and everyone enjoyed themselves, it was very special to see our residents and staff singing and dancing.
Residents also got creative designing some fantastic pumpkins to display in our home. Not forgetting our lovely staff who dressed for the occasion!
To further our Halloween activities we invited Hethersett’s Local scientist Lucy to host some spooky science experiments along with some little ones via Friend in Deed.
It was great fun, with the children all in fancy dress and always a pleasure to see them!
All Aboard
On Thursday 14th of October we part in a Virtual Cruise with Unilever as part of Barchester's regular Live Virtual Events.
Residents gathered in the library where activities staff had put up holiday themed decorations. Our chef Tony had made some delicious taster dishes from the different countries. Our residents enjoyed the selected menu and hearing all about the different locations Germany, Holland and Belgium. This event sparked some great conversations to reminisce.
Virtual Cruise
Last month residents of Memory Lane were invited to the lounge for a sensory session with Juli, a local drama teacher.
Juli had prepared a story of going down to the river with appropriate props such as pebbles, a fish net, a picnic and blue chiffon material to represent a river. We also had the water sounds to enhance the scene. Residents were fully engaged throughout and expressed how much they enjoyed it. One lady acted out paddling through the stream, it was amazing!
The session ended with residents reading a lovely poem about a river by Valerie Bloom.
We can’t wait for the next session in December!
Little Visitors
After such a long time, we were so pleased to welcome back Little Visitors from Friend in Deed on Friday 8th October. The atmosphere in our lounge was wonderful, with so many happy faces. Our residents had such a lovely time making new friends and playing games.
We will have a Friend in Deed session each Friday morning at 10:45am, all welcome to join us. To keep everyone safe all visitors must complete an LFD test and register online prior to arriving at the home.
Art Exhibition
Residents enjoyed an art exhibition showing off the amazing work 4 of our budding artists have produced over 14 months.
The quality of the work speaks for itself and it's astounding to think some of the artists have never done any type of artwork at all!
There was cheese and wine to be enjoyed after the event, and Lucinda the harpist was playing in the foyer as people arrived.
The support our residents had from not just their relatives but the local community and Friend in Deed was outstanding and was an amazing well-being boost for everyone involved – we’re so proud!
Dementia Champion
Lee Sharpe has beaten all the competition to be crowned Dementia Champion in the Barchester Care Awards 2021.
