Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Life at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Sunday Service

Each Sunday morning, our residents gather together in the lounge for a prayer service, along with Holy Communion, supported by activities staff. We understand how important it is to meet our residents' religious and spiritual needs.

Reverend, Rosie, of St Andrew's Church in Trowse, kindly offered for us to join their Zoom session at 10:45am each week to bring our lovely residents reassurance and comfort in these times of need.

Drive Club

We were delighted to take some of our residents for a scenic drive in the minibus to Whitlingham Park. We had the best seats, right at the front of the car park! It was a joy to see our residents smiling and admiring the many ducks and swans swimming in the lake.

Retail Therapy

Last month, we welcomed Clayre and Teresa of Birdies Boutique back to our home with safety measures in place. The Birdies sat smiling through their masks in our side garden with clothing stocked in their van. Activities staff took orders for residents and placed order forms in a plastic folder, which was wiped with disinfectant wipes after each use.

Our residents missed interacting with Clayre and Teresa on this occasion, but we were thrilled to support residents in a safe way to take part in some retail therapy. A huge thank you to Birdies Boutique for their hard work and cooperation to ensure our residents' safety. We look forward to seeing you again!

Oomph!

Our residents of Memory Lane got involved with a light virtual exercise session. We warmed up with a 'throw and catch' exercise, and then moved onto chair based movements to 1950s music, which got everyone singing and dancing!

We had a cool down with some gentle stretches followed by some well-deserved refreshments. We love to see our residents smiling and maintain a happy, healthy lifestyle!

We've got our Mojo back!

Before lockdown, Foteini from Creative Mojo used to visit us every week to do arts and crafts with our residents in Memory Lane.

We have really missed her and we were delighted to arrange a live arts and crafts session.

We painted sunflowers with inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh. Residents were amazed to see Foteini on the TV smiling and waving at them. They were thrilled with the finished piece and felt a sense of achievement — we’ve got our Mojo back!

Ready, Steady, Go

Last Friday residents and staff enjoyed taking part in various sports day activities. We divided into two teams with residents and staff on each to compete for prizes. Residents on each team had a turn at horse-shoe pitching, skittles and tin can alley target! Staff enjoyed competing in an egg and spoon race as well as an obstacle course relay race!

The highlight of the day was staff space-hopping in fancy dress, which made us all giggle! Thank you so much to all who took part, it was so lovely to see residents and staff smiling and enjoying themselves.
