Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.
Ellie Robinson
Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning. I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes. Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.
I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.
Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

It's the little things
Resident Mary touched all our hearts when she presented General Manager, Liz Walsh with her beautifully handwritten card, letter, creative artwork design & a poem of appreciation. Mary wrote "The whole world might want to send you a special thank you but for the time being you'll just have to do with mine". The hand made card is a letter of appreciation for all staff at Hilderstone Hall & is of the highest kind stating, "Many thanks to everyone, whatever your job is for making me so happy here. When our friends are out of touch you know just how to make me smile & lift my spirits too, particularly when you give me a vanilla slice and a really hot strong brew"
Cocktails and Canapes
Residents of Hilderstone Hall enjoy their monthly 'Cocktail and Canapes' Receptions. The home hosts this popular get together each month with Residents getting to sample a selection of delicious beverages and nibbles in the homes large light and airy lounge providing the ideal opportunity to catch up, enjoy a chat whilst listening to their favourite music before lunch.
In August the theme was “Mocktails” and Residents enjoyed a number of non-alcoholic mocktails with the clear favourite being the Pina Colada with the Passion Fruit “Martini” a close second. A number of delectable nibbles were also enjoyed with Residents sampling the cheese and pineapple sticks – a real 70s blast from the past!
Birthday celebrations
Resident, Betty celebrated her 94-years young birthday in style surrounded by staff and friends in the home who presented her with her a delicious home-made birthday cake and a bouquet of flowers with a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday'. The birthday girl also enjoyed a garden visit with her son.
General Manager, Elizabeth Walsh, said: “It was a lovely afternoon which was enjoyed by everyone and it was nice that Betty could share her day with all the other residents and the staff made sure her birthday celebrations were spectacular!”
Residents morning ‘shake up’
Residents at Hilderstone Park enjoy a varied activity programme as part of the homes life enrichment for their residents and with this in mind, the home recently hosted a well-attended ‘Keep Fit’ class for a morning ‘shake up’ before sitting back to enjoy a cup of tea and slice of home made cake.
Seated exercise is such a great way to improve our Resident’s wellbeing, and it’s even better to see them having such a wonderful time doing it!” Exercise therapy sessions are just one of the variety of regular activities available for Residents to enjoy at Hilderstone Hall.
Afternoon tea delight!
It was time for tea at Hilderstone Hall, when the residents got together to enjoy an afternoon tea treat of fresh cream cakes, alongside a nice cup of tea. From delicious homemade scones to a classic fluffy Victoria sponge, residents were spoilt for choice with the variety of tasty treats on offer. A lively debate soon followed as Residents discussed whether it was the jam or cream first!
