Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.
Ellie Robinson
Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning. I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes. Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.
I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.
Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Community Spirit
We were delighted to meet, at a distance, Tesco staff members who came bearing gifts for the community. Residents and Staff were thrilled with the very kind donation of a hamper.
Easter Joy
Easter celebrations were in full "Spring Swing" all weekend at Hilderstone Hall. Our Staff and Resident's Easter Parade was quite an occassion, everyone loved the colourful easter bonnets. A good friend of ours, Bethany age 14 from a local farm kindly left (at our doors) generous easter gifts together with photos of the newly born lambs at her farm all of which were received with thanks and very much appreciated.
St Patrick's Day
Tables were set especially for "The Feast of St Patrick" to celebrate the heritage and culture of the Irish people. A few halves of Guinness was order of the day
Ball games in the garden!
Residents enjoyed one to one activities this week, games included catching the ball on the beautiful lawn... and luckily we caught the sun too!
World Poetry Day
Our well attended weekly poetry group had an even greater turn out this week, in recognition of World Poetry Day. Some residents received one to one readings in their rooms. Resident Mary created the art work in support of the poems we chose for the special day including The Owl and the Pussy Cat!
"Time for a Cuppa" Dementia UK Fund Raiser
It was "Time for a Cuppa" at Hilderstone Hall where residents, famililes and friends of the home gathered to guess the weight of the cake, take part in a quiz and buy delicious homemade cakes from the cake stall. Activities Coordinator, Jane Procter arranged and hosted the event raising over £97.00 in aid of the charity, Dementia UK.
