Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.

Ellie Robinson

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.

I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning.  I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.

I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes.  Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.

I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.

Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

Activities at Hilderstone

The ladies and gentlemen at Hilderstone have been enjoying entertainment in our gardens, tucking into cream cakes, relaxing to a Neil Diamond impersonator and having a bit fun with dancing.

Care Home Open Day

Great fun was had by residents, families, staff members and visitors; we had great food followed by singing from Melanie. She sang tunes from the '50s, which staff and residents danced away too.

We then had our raffle and a fashion show; prizes were awarded by our judging panel. Resident, Norman, was crowned the winner - he dressed up as Elvis.

We finished our day with fish and chips in good old fashioned newspaper and lots of ice cream and milkshakes.

A Week at Hilderstone Hall

During the week commencing 12th June, we had a big bake off on Monday, a big breakfast on Tuesday and a flower arranging competition on Wednesday. Residents, staff, families and visitors joined in and prizes were given to first, second and third place.

Beach Day

Beach Day

We enjoyed a beach-themed day at the home, with a lovely fish & chip lunch that was followed by ice cream and a game of giant snakes and ladders.

Trip to McDonalds

Trip to McDonalds

Resident, Betty, commented that she had never had a McDonalds cheeseburger, so our Activities Coordinator, Sharon, and our Administrator, Lindsey, organised a trip to the drive through!

Lindsey took us on a mystery tour whilst driving, with one of the other residents, Bill, navigating and reminiscing about all the places he could remember. We even did a drive by of where he used to live.

We finally arrived at McDonalds and we all tucked into a cheeseburger happy meal, with the exception of Bill, who went for the Big Mac and polished it off nicely.
