Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.
Ellie Robinson
Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning. I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes. Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.
I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.
Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Hilderstone Village Fête
On Saturday 21st July Hilderstone Village held its yearly fête, which we attended. We set up two stalls at the event and had a lovely afternoon, and we were all made to feel very welcome. Money raised will be divided between the Barchester Foundation and the village church fund.
The Ice Cream Man Can!
What do you do when it’s too hot to do anything but sit and relax? Well, at Hilderstone Hall, we ring the ice cream man, who lives 7 miles away, and asked him if it was at all possible that he could pay us a visit and, of course, he said yes. It was great for the ladies and gentlemen to hear the van playing its tune as he drove up the car park and pulled up right outside.
Bella the Chihuahua
Residents and staff had a lovely surprise when Gemma, one of our carers, came in on her day off with her little tea cup Chihuahua, Bella. Bella was so well behaved and we found out that she loves to dress up! She tried on Barchy Bears t-shirt and it was the perfect fit!
Bella got lots of cuddles and love from everyone that met her and she took it all in her stride. Gemma nominated her for Hilderstone Hall mascot to which we are all thrilled! Bella will be visiting weekly and along with Barchy Bear she will also be coming on minibus trips out with us.
Professionals' Breakfast
On Tuesday 19th June, we held a 'Meet the Manager' event at Hilderstone Hall for the professionals in the surrounding areas. It was a lovely, relaxed morning, where people could enjoy a big breakfast, a chat with our General Manager and a tour of the home.
Hatching Happiness
We are having great fun at Hilderstone with our baby chicks. Six arrived in little eggs, and one-by-one, we watched as they hatched, to the delight of so many residents, family members, friends, visitors and staff. We've become so attached to these beautiful creatures that we've decided to keep them for an extra week. Each little chick has its own name, which was chosen by the ladies and gentlemen of Hilderstone and, every day, they come out for a fuss and, of course, lots of attention!
Open Day
Once again, our open day was a huge success and Hilderstone Hall had lots of visitors join us for the event. As it was the Queen’s birthday, we thought it was only fitting that we invited the Duke himself to join in with the fun (scarecrow style). After having some traditional fish & chips, which was followed by cream scones, we enjoyed dancing along to live entertainment. It was a great day indeed!
