Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Staff at Hilton Park have started to receive Covid vaccinations. So far 23 members of staff have received the first dose of the vaccination after being offered this by the local NHS Trust. 

The whole team is delighted and it feels as though we can see the light at the end of the tunnel after a very challenging year. This is the first step on the path to getting things back to normal and having a buzz of visitors in the home again. 

We expect to have more staff vaccinated in January and hopefully residents will have access to this soon. 

The residents at Hilton Park have been getting into the festive spirit by creating Christmas cards for the community. WIth the aim of delivering Christmas cards to those who are isolated at home this year, the residents hope to lift spirits across the community.

Watch out for reindeer in the garden! The Hilton Park gardening team have been busy decorating trees and creating Christmas sculptures to bring a smile to the faces of the residents.

A number of Hilton Park residents have enjoyed an afternoon of admiring jewellery and wine.

Residents gathered to show off their jewellery collections, explain the story behind each piece and enjoy some wine at the same time. We have learnt all about family heirlooms, romantic gestures and secret spending sprees.

This week has seen a rather competitive afternoon of Bingo played in our beautiful atrium. Residents had a thoroughly good time laughing at the Bingo calls and winning prizes. 

Social activities such as these are always at the heart of Hilton Park. 

Residents are overjoyed at Hilton Park care home as Barchester Healthcare has implemented an indoor visiting suite for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones in the upcoming months.  

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment. The visiting suite has been designed with both comfort and safety in mind, and has been recently adapted from a room which is accessible internally by residents and externally by visitors. The room is similar to a living room with comfortable furnishings, and heated to create a welcoming and warm environment, and has an intercom system fitted, so residents can clearly communicate, and engage in conversation, whilst being able to see their friends and family through a Perspex glass divider, fitted for safety to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Infection control protocols and safe social distancing are in place for every visit, including a hand sanitizer station before entry. Cleaning at Hilton Park care home will take place after each visit to ensure chairs, seats, hard surfaces including windowsills, and the Perspex glass divider are wiped down appropriately.

Suja Mathai, General Manager at the home, said: “The visiting suite has been a much welcomed development for our residents at Hilton Park to continue to receive much looked forward to visits from their loved ones, as the weather changes. The indoor visiting suite visits are well organised, and a lot of safety measures have been put in place to ensure they are Covid-secure. It will be wonderful to see how happy it makes the residents and their relatives in a warm and cosy environment.”

Hilton Park are communicating with resident families to explain the new online booking system.

Hilton Park is fortunate to have a talented pianist as a resident. Many of our residents spent a relaxing afternoon in our wonderful atrium listening to him play classical music on our piano. He always draws a crowd when he plays.
