Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

International Nurses Day

Coinciding with the birth date of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day, held on Tuesday 12th May, is a day to celebrate nurses and care staff around the world. Residents and staff at Hilton Park care home in Bottisham, were happy to get involved by hosting a much deserved International Nurses day.

Sonia Joy, Nurse at the home, said “I wanted to something with my life that was challenging, interesting and makes a difference in people’s lives. As a Barchester Nurse we like to empower our residence and support them to maintain as much independence as possible. I think that young people should consider nursing as a career as it helps saves lives and can bring happiness and comfort to people and their families. At Hilton Park I really enjoyed mothers day. I was able to spend a lot of time with my residence which was a symbiotic pleasure.”

Suja Mathai, General Manager at the home, said:  “At Hilton Park, our nurses and staff are hard-working, dedicated, and passionate about caring for others, and that compassion and commitment has shone through even more these past few weeks. They continue to work tirelessly, and I’m proud of the professionalism and duty of care they uphold. All their efforts are focused on creating an enjoyable environment for our residents, so it’s nice to take this time to show our appreciation in return.”

VE Day Celebrations

VE Day at Hilton Park was a fabulous day spent celebrating! We had a mobile ice cream trolley that visited all residents in their rooms, whilst playing Vera Lynn classics! Our residents thoroughly enjoyed their favourite flavours. Mint Choc Chip seemed to be very popular!!

Chickens!

We are so lucky at Hilton Park to have lovely gardens. Within these lovely gardens are some very friendly chickens! Our residents like to go outside on a sunny day and say hello to our feathery friends.

Games Outside

Residents at Hilton Park were making the most of the sunshine enjoying a game of skittles under lovely clear blue skies. Games like skittles help residents to keep mobile whilst having fun!

Walks in the Garden

Our grounds here are so very beautiful and whilst the sun has been shining, we have been encouraging our residents to explore them. Here are some lovely pictures of our residents enjoying the pond that we have on site. We were watching to see what wildlife lived at the pond!!!

Postcards of Kindness

We are ever so lucky to have received lots of post and letters from all over the country to wish us well and to help keep our spirits high. Here are some pictures of our residents enjoying reading some of the letters.
