Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

WildScience Animal Visit

We had a great time yesterday with our friends from WildScience!

WildScience came in for a very exciting, fun, educational, and wild experience. The residents absolutely loved it and we cannot wait to book another visit. Animals and nature really do bring a lot of joy to the home.

We had guinea pigs, hamsters, frogs, Oscar the snake, giant snails and a scorpion! (Which we had a look at but left in his box!).

WildSci take great care in looking after their animals, reptiles and insects and we highly recommend them.

When asked what animals residents would like to see in the home in future, our favourite answer was ‘an elephant’. Let’s see what we can do!

Mable The PAT Dog

We had a visitor this week in the form of Mable, the beautiful French Bull Dog. She visited many of our residents and the joy she brought was greatly appreciated. She put a smile on many faces and we were also able to take her to residents bedside to say 'hello' too.

Watch this space, we look to have some news soon about a brand new Barchester pooch!

Tea for Two

We had a great morning tea tasting in the atrium here at Hilton Park. The winner by far was the Indian Chai, and it was washed down with some wine and biscuits.

Afternoon in the Sun

We had an exercise class with weights, resistance bands, some stretching and Yoga, followed by badminton, ball games and bowls.

Gardening Club

Gardening club has been fantastic! Six whole tubs were planted full of glorious bulbs and the weather was perfect too. Long may it stay this way so we can get outside as often as possible and enjoy the fresh air and scenery.

Get Your Bets On!

One of our residents, John, (pictured) is a huge fan of horse racing and follows it avidly. He has his money on two horses running at the Grand National this weekend: the first choice being ‘Potters Corner’ and the second ‘Kauto Riko’. Cross your fingers for a good result! Barchester have asked many residents which horse they would like to put their bets on, and whoever wins, gets a prize.
