Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Sausage and Cider afternoon
A real treat for our residents who got to sample some delicious food and drink today at Hunters.
With an idea born from a conversation with John, a residents at Hunters, who mentioned his love of different ciders, we decided to combine this with a sausage tasting.
Both General and Memory Lane communities came together, and with the help of our head chef Leo, got to sample a variety of delicious sausages all washed down with refreshing glass of cider.
Singalong with Alan
Another great afternoon with the amazing Alan Tocknell, who is a real favourite with our residents. Lots of singing and dancing from the residents and nurses. Music is such good medicine and Alan always gets everyone smiling as he performs a range of hits from throughout the decades.
“Schoola”
An activity which has fast become a weekly favourite at Hunters, Schoola always brings out fun and competiveness for our residents. The residents have 10 disks to slide down the board aiming for the holes at the end, scoring various points. After a few rounds we add up the scores to find a winner. The board itself was made by Geoff, who has been a resident at Hunters for the last few years. He always likes to share hints and tips as we play. So much fun and laughter, with David our champion on this occasion.
Flower Arranging Fun
The return of an old favourite with flower arranging at Hunters. This is always a popular activity for our residents, both those who have a lot of experience and those having a go for the first time. Everyone loves creating beautiful bouquets to show off around the home. Lots of tips and stories shared and as usual the end results were amazing. Well done everybody.
Baking at Hunters
A fun day of baking at Hunters today. First some fantastic biscuit making with help from our Memory Lane community. Lots of laughter rolling out the mix and then decorating delicious chocolate chip cookies just in time for a cuppa. Then this afternoon was all about pizza making with the General community. Lots of fun as we loaded up with our favourite toppings, sharing stories of past pizza experiences. Followed by a patient wait as they cooked so we could all sample the yummy results. A great day with fantastic treats for all.
Table Tennis Fun
An active afternoon of table tennis at Hunters. Lots of fun with residents trying both seated balloon tennis as well as braving ping pong balls for a real game. Balloon tennis is always a favourite and a lot trickier than it looks. Our residents love any chance to get active and this was no exception. The competition was high as we all had a go to see who had been picking up tips from the recent Olympics.
