Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home

Arts and Crafts

This week at Hunters, the residents used their artistic talents in an arts and crafts session. They spent an enjoyable afternoon taking part in a collage making session with the activity staff. Afterwards there was a real sense of achievement from the group.

100th Birthday Celebration

Congratulations to the lovely Grace who has celebrated her 100th birthday this week. Grace celebrated with family, friends, residents and staff with a special lunch and musical entertainment from Andy Yapp. Grace is such a gentle and kind lady and it was wonderful to see her be the centre of attention and receive all of the fuss her special day deserved.

Nursery Visit

We welcomed back the children from the Duke of Gloucester Nursery Group for a play afternoon. The residents really look forward to the children’s visits.

During their most recent visit, it was story time, with the residents reading to the children and offering them snacks afterwards. The children give the home a real lift and form an important part of the community engagement programme at Hunters.

,

Cream Tea

We held a baking session where the residents made their own delicious cream tea as an afternoon treat. Baking afternoons are very therapeutic for, residents, as they can relax and chat, with the most important part being eating the end result.

Jazz and Soul Entertainment

This week at Hunters we were entertained by Jazz and Soul singer Neil Patterson. The residents love to watch Neil sing and dance to the Rat Pack songs of the 1950’s and 60’s. Neil always finds time for some witty conversation in between songs which goes down particularly well with the audience.

Tickled Pink Theatre Company

We were recently entertained at Hunters by the Tickled Pink Theatre Company performing their Christmas Show. There were plenty of musical numbers for everyone to sing along to, with members of the audience invited on to the stage to take part. Everyone had a lovely afternoon getting into the festive spirit, with mince pies and sherry served to round off the perfect afternoon.
