Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Everson

Activities Coordinator & Speak Up Champion

I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.

I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day.  I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Pancake Day

Pancake Day

We got into the spirit of things by having sugar & lemon flavoured pancakes with our lunch. In the afternoon, we all had a lot of fun flipping pancakes and enjoying them again, but this time with fruit and a variety of sauces.

Ballroom Dancers

Ballroom Dancers

A local group of ballroom dancers joined us for a tea dance. The 3 couples put on a spectacular show and then took the time to involve everyone in a bit of dancing. For some residents, this was the first time they had danced in years and the smiles on everyone’s faces goes to show what a great afternoon was had!

Our First 100th Birthday

Our First 100th Birthday

We celebrated the first 100th birthday within the home in February and everyone enjoyed an afternoon of music, sherry and plenty of food prepared by the kitchen. We even had a special visit from the Queen, who hand-delivered her telegraph to the very special Betty.

An Adorable Visit

An Adorable Visit

We were visited by some adorable guinea pigs in February - and everyone got a turn to pet the tiny little creatures, who were very calm. The last time we see some of these, they were only babies!

Open House

Open House

Hurstwood View opened its doors to welcome friends old and new on Saturday 21st January. It was lovely to meet some new people and also see some regular faces. We topped the day off with afternoon tea and fresh scones made by our chef, Martin, whilst enjoying the musical talents from Full Beam Productions. It was a great opportunity for everyone to get together and celebrate what makes our home special.

Dooley the Pony

Dooley the Pony

We were recently treated to a visit from Dooley. The residents enjoyed stroking and interacting with him; he even took a trip in the lift up to our Memory Lane community where he was greeted with lots of smiles.
