Activities at Juniper House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Juniper House Care Home

Making Remembrance Poppies

Remembrance Day is a very special day to the residents and staff at Juniper House. With limited fundraising events, residents spent time thinking about how they could raise money for the Royal British Legion. They came up with the idea of making hair clips with poppies on, They spent time designing the clip with much debate over whether the poppy should have two petals or more. This is the finished product which the residents are very proud of. They were sold from our front foyer with a suggested donation of £1 and are all unique and handmade with love.

Halloween fun

Although we didn’t celebrate Hallowe'en the way we usually do, because of the Covid pandemic, we still managed to have lots of fun. We spent the morning having gentle armchair exercises by dancing to Hallowe'en hits such as thriller and ghost busters. In the afternoon we enjoyed creating decorations to display in our windows and on our Hallowe'en cart for the community to enjoy on their walks.

Learning new skills

Residents at Juniper House always enjoy learning new skills and the pandemic highlighted the benefits of technology and prompted some wonderful tutorial based activities. Technology has enabled residents to use Skype to keep in contact with loved ones, listen to audiobooks and podcasts, check the news online, watch virtual church services, email friends and even find the occasional hint when we’re stuck on the crossword!

A lovely card from Radstone Primary School

We were delighted to receive a beautiful handmade card from the children at The Radstone Primary School to thank us for the book we donated to their school library. The children drew pictures of their favourite books on the card and residents have loved looking at them all. It was a very kind gesture - Thank You!

Autumn is Here

Autumn is now in full swing. Here are some of the crafting projects residents have created: painted salt dough, woodland creations, painted pebbles and some relaxation colouring. Watch this space for things to start looking a bit spooky

Mocktails in the Garden

Hasn't mother nature been kind to us this week! We took the opportunity to enjoy the evening sunshine with some mocktails in the garden. We are very lucky to have such a lovely garden for the residents and staff to enjoy, especially on days like today.
