Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Winter Walks in Kenwyns Gardens

Yesterday at Kenwyn saw a perfect winters day for us to wrap up warm and head into our gardens for a walk and Nature Watch. Kenwyn’s well established gardens lend themselves perfectly for such activities and the crisp, fresh winters air was incredibly refreshing.

Pet Competiton Winner announced!

One of Kenwyn's lovely residents, Barbara, was asked to kindly judge our Animal Photography Competition, a role she was happy to do and took very seriously. After much deliberation she has decided that the worthy winner of a Cornish Cream Tea Hamper is:   Beano!   Beano's photo was sent to us by his owner, Angela Philp. Beano was sitting pretty for his Groomer, and we are sure you will agree, makes a very worthy winner.   Well Done BEANO!

Pamper Time!

Nothing feels quite as lovely as a trip to the Hairdressers! Here at Kenwyn we have our own Salon, which is always ready to welcome our residents. We will soon be welcoming a new hairdresser to our team and we look forward to seeing plenty more glamourous hairstyles around our home in Kenwyn. #kenwyn #barchester #beautiful #pampertime

A perfect moment captured!

A perfect moment captured on camera today here at Kenwyn. This is Harvey, the head of our Activities team and Janice, one of our lovely residents. Janice was enjoying her investigation of a 'Rummage Box.' A Rummage Box is especially designed as a means of tapping into memories from the past, helping people living with Dementia feel empowered and secure in familiarity. Its about reminiscence, with  a little fun thrown in. #kenwyn #barchester #beautiful #fun #laughter

Kenwyn's Residents really enjoy Magic Table fun!

At Kenwyn, we are always looking for ways to improve our residents' quality of life. This is why use the Magic Table. It provides opportunities for residents to increase physical and social interactions and, most of all, have fun. The magic table is a series of interactive light which is projected. Research has also shown that the Magic Table is consistently able to have a positive effect on those living with dementia through the early, mid and later stages of the condition through sensory stimulation, relaxation, reminiscence. It provides so much fun!

Kenwyn's second Blue Light Breakfast and visit to The Fire Service

The Blue Light Breakfast here at Kenwyn was another huge success. Working with the community is something that is really important to us. To spend any time at all with the Emergency Services is a privilege and today was no exception. Firstly we were provided hot drinks and delicious homemade Pastries to an Ambulance crew in our carpark here at Kenwyn. Secondly, General Manager Marie Wilson and Home Services Advisor Adele Beaton headed down to Camborne to meet the lovely crew of Black Watch. We handed over our homemade Pastries as a small thank you for all they do. (We will be back to visit Blue Watch soon!) Thank you so much ladies and gents! You do amazing work keeping us all safe.
