Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kenwyn enjoys Burns Night

Today at Kenwyn we celebrated the Scottish way, after all, it is Burns’ Night! With traditional Scottish music filling the home, and a specially designed Scottish Menu created by Kenwyn’s Chef, we truly celebrated in style! The menu included a traditional Scottish Broth Soup, (which was a firm favourite with the residents!) A Haggis version of Cottage Pie and a Cock a Leekie Risotto, amongst other things - all delicious.

International Flower Day

Yesterday was International Flower Day! Here at Kenwyn we had a creative day, enjoying Flower Arranging and Arts and Crafts. Brenda said the beautiful flowers reminded her of her parents home. Here she is adding the final touches to her arrangement, such a perfectionist! And what a wonderful job she did. Thank you to Chloe and Beth from Kenwyn’s Activities team who made the day a huge success.

Emergency Services Breakfast

Each Friday morning, Kenwyn Care Home has decided to offer all Emergency Services a complimentry breakfast! This will consist of homemade Croissants, Pastries and other delicious treats. Our first event was held on January 14th and they will run each Friday morning thorugh to the end of February!   Our first event was a huge success! Not a crumb left!   Realising that most services were too busy to stop at Kenwyn, we packed our goods and went to them. General Manager Marie Wilson and Home Services Advisor Adele Beaton, hot footed it up to Treliske Hospital. We met Police and Paramedics and thanked them for all they do, handing over our treats. Such lovely people, who do amazing work and who were very thankful for our homemade pastry delights! Remember, this complimentary breakfast runs all the way through February each Friday morning.

Magical Fan at the Magic Table

Kenwyn's Residents really enjoy Magic Table fun! At Kenwyn, we are always looking for ways to improve our residents' quality of life. This is why use the Magic Table. It provides opportunities for residents to increase physical and social interactions and, most of all, have fun. The magic table is a series of interactive light which is projected. Research has also shown that the Magic Table is consistently able to have a positive effect on those living with dementia through the early, mid and later stages of the condition through sensory stimulation, relaxation, reminiscence. It provides so much fun!
