Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kenwyn Care Home

,

Remembrance Day

We celebrated Remembrance Day here at Kenwyn and the residents made their very own poppy plaque. The staff and residents all came together for 2 minutes of silence and remembered all of the heroes who passed. We also remembered our heroes of Kenwyn. Residents and staff who have now moved on.

Halloween Life

We celebrated in our dining halls with some tasty food and some wonderfully spooky treats made by our brilliant Head Chef, Jo. Our Residents on Memory Lane helped us decorate some of the pumpkins using spider stencils. We put on some Halloween classics and had a great evening.

Fundraising Fun

We have been working with Pirate FM in aiding to raise money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance. This is an amazing cause and our staff and relatives and even some of our residents have donated. We all worked together and managed to raise £60.00 for Cornwall Air Ambulance from all our amazing staff and relatives.

World Animal Day

Here at Kenwyn, we celebrated World Animal Day, and decided we would do something to encourage more wildlife to our gardens here at Kenwyn!

We have been filling up our new bird feeders and placing them strategically around the gardens. Residents enjoyed the process and have been waiting eagerly to see the increase in birds around the home. We will be doing several outings in the coming weeks to do some bird watching and see if our hard work has paid off.

Autumn Approaches

As autumn approaches here at Kenwyn, we have been using the last of the fresh lavender brought in by members of staff to create Lavender bags.

Our residents at Kenwyn have been working hard together to create these lovely bags. From peeling the fresh lavender off the stem and drying it for a few days to then packing the little bags with gorgeous smelling lavender. The bags where then shared with the other residents and members of staff, leaving smiles all around and everyone smelling lavender fresh.

Our Salon is Open!

Kenwyn has re-opened its hair salon, leaving lots of our residents smiling. The salon has been closed due to the pandemic, but fortunately, activities assistant and professional hair dresser, Bethany Mill, has been working on making all of our residents look fantastic.

We are very lucky to have her as a multi-skilled member of the team and has been a great addition to have here at Kenwyn. All of our residents have been extremely pleased with her skills and have found new confidence in themselves once again.
