Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Activities Lead

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Kings Park.

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Kings Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

Celebrating life at Kings Park Care Home

A Little Garden Moment

The garden at Kings Park was glowing in the afternoon sunshine, the kind of soft, golden light that makes everything feel a little more peaceful. Martin our Activities Coordinator and Audrey one of our residents wandered out together, taking their time, letting the warmth settle on their shoulders.

They found a quiet spot among the flowers, and for a moment it felt as though the whole world slowed down and they took a moment to enjoy teh sun and smiled bright and genuine.

There was no rush, no noise, just two friends sharing a simple moment outdoors. It was sunshine, laughter, and connection, the heart of what makes days like this so meaningful.

Easter at Kings Park

Everyone here at Kings Park had a wonderful time celebrating Easter!

We enjoyed a fun-filled game of Easter bingo, complete with lots of chocolate prizes!!

There was also a lot of creativity on display with Easter crafts, from decorating eggs to beautifully decorating the tree.

A lovely weekend full of laughter, creativity, and celebration!

Marjorie's Celebrations

Our residents always have a homemade birthday cake and decorations on their birthday. We like them to feel special every day here at Kings Park but on birthdays they are the star of the show!

A wonderful morning spent with the delightful children from Ferndown First School, reading together, chatting about stories and favourite books.
It's always such a treat when the children visit . The benefits for the children and the residents are enormous. We are looking forward to the next visit already.

Animal Therapy at Kings Park Care Home

The afternoon sun drifted gently through the lounge windows at Kings Park Care Home when Lola, padded gracefully inside. With her soft tail held high and her two tiny kittens trotting behind her.

Residents who had been quietly reading or chatting suddenly lit up. Hands reached out, smiles spread, and the room filled with that unmistakable warmth that only animals seem to bring. Lola, ever the gentle soul, moved from lap to lap, accepting strokes as though she knew exactly who needed her most. Her kittens tumbled about playfully, offering their own brand of joy, tiny paws, tiny purrs, big impact.

Even the staff couldn’t resist stealing a moment. A quick peek turned into a cuddle, and soon everyone was gathered around, sharing stories of pets they once loved and memories long tucked away.

It was simple, sweet, and utterly heart‑lifting, the kind of afternoon that reminds us why animal therapy is such a gift.

There’s nothing quite like good company and a friendly catch-up

Here at Kings Park Care Home in Ferndown, social time is something we truly cherish. Whether it’s enjoying a relaxed coffee morning with our chefs’ homemade cakes, walking into Ferndown for a wander around the shops with a well-earned glass of wine, or raising a glass together at one of our evening socials – there’s always an opportunity to connect, laugh, and make special memories.

We believe these moments of togetherness are what make our home, feel like home.

Celebrating our Unsung Hero

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating our wonderful local lollipop lady, Sarah. It was a truly special morning bringing together residents, school children, local businesses and members of the community. Celebrating Sarah as our local, female unsung hero was our way of marking International Women's Day. Sarah is a shining example of all the fabulous women and girls that go the extra mile in our local community every day.

The delightful Children from Ferndown First School read a beautiful poem and presented Sarah with a handmade card filled with their lovely illustrations and messages.

Our talented chef and kitchen team also created a fantastic lollipop cake and delicious cupcakes, which everyone enjoyed.

We also heard some lovely words from Councillor Terry Cordery from Ferndown Town Council and our resident Ambassador Eric, sharing just how much Sarah means to the community.

To finish the day, Sarah kindly donated the cake to St. Mary's Ferndown which our Senior General Manager, Jenna and Deputy Manager, Steph delivered to the church.

Jewel Harmonies Duo Delight at Kings Park...

Energetic entertainment was the order of the day as we were joined by 'Jewel Harmonies'. The ladies treated us to a trip back to the 70s and 80s with a string of Top 40 hits. Plenty of toe tapping, clapping, singing along and smiles too!

Malcom's Magic

Each time Malcolm visits he sprinkles a little of his magic, creating smiles, laughter and a sense of fun.

He get's everyone involved in a variety of activities, balloon fun, reciting poetry, listening to music and playing lots of fun, loud instruments! You never know what to expect........this week we were conducting the orchestra and joining in with percussion!

Gardening Club

In preparation for the start of our gardening club, our team members, Angela, Martin, Bernie and Nick the gardener took a some of our residents on a lovely trip to the local garden centre.

Everyone enjoyed choosing colourful plants and seeds ready for planting, with plenty of excitement about the season ahead.

We can't wait to see how the garden will grow and florish this spring and summer!

Cat Cuddles

We had a very special visitor at the home – the lovely Lola the Savanna cat

Lola came to see us just one day after having a scan to check on her kittens, and it also happened to be her 4th birthday! Our residents were absolutely delighted to meet her.

Residents commented on how incredibly friendly and dainty she was – she truly won everyone’s hearts.

Lola’s story made her visit even more special. Her owner shared that she was rescued after previously being kept in a hamster cage, making her calm, affectionate nature all the more remarkable.

It was a visit full of smiles, cuddles, and lots of love – thank you, Lola, for brightening our day

Mixing It Up

A Trip Down Memory Lane

A Trip Down Memory Lane with Charmworth Miniatures

A great session with Sandra, at Charmworth Miniatures. It's always a pleasure to welcome Sandra to our home, this time the theme was wedding dresses from the 1930s to the 1980s. We spent an afternoon before Sandra's visit reminiscing about weddings, sharing photos and telling stories.

Our residents loved seeing the styles of the wedding dresses from past decades and hearing about the designs and fabrics that were popular and the craftmanship that was used to create 'the' dress for that special day. It was a lovely afternoon with lots of chat and memories.
