Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

A New Sheriff in Town...

Kings Park recently received a very special guest into their home...

The new High Sheriff of Dorset, Colin Weston and his his lovely wife, Ruth, were both invited to come and join the residents for a delicious high tea laid on by our wonderful in-house Chef, Wyn.

Colin and Ruth were both welcomed by our new General Manager, Sebastian and by Senior General Manager, Sohail, before being introduced to all of the awaiting residents.

Sitting down to tea and delicious homemade cakes and finger sandwiches in such esteemed company is not a bad way to while away an afternoon!

Thank you Colin and Ruth for joining us here at Kings Park - You are very welcome back any time!

Skittles Fun

Residents gathered together for a nail biting skittle tournament up on our Memory Lane community recently...

What a fun afternoon of laughter and fun everyone had as they battled it out to see who could knock down the most pins.

Well done everyone for a fabulous session!

Ferndown Strummers!

Recently in the home we were thrilled and delighted some people into our home, who we know very much regard as friends...

The fabulous Ferndown Strummers are regular faces here at Kings Park, rehearsing in our top floor lounge every Thursday afternoon.

As a special thank for the use of space, The Strummers truly delighted residents and staff with an afternoon concert, which included music by The Beatles, Morecambe & Wise, Neil Diamond and more!

There was LOTS of singing, dancing and much, much merriment from all who came to listen!

THANK YOU The Ferndown Strummers for this wonderful animated afternoon. We are very much looking forward to your next concert; your Christmas Show-Ho-Ho!

Seaside Memories

Here at Kings Park, our residents love nothing more than sitting down for a good old reminisce...

Gathering together over a cuppa, residents shared memories and stories which were prompted by pictures, books and beach themed props.

Such a delightful thing to do as a group - warms the 'cockles' of the heart! (See what we did there?!)

Ladies Day Out...

On a bright sunny day, not so long ago, some of the lovely ladies from Kings Park ventured out on a wonderful bus trip...

It was 'all aboard!' the Kings Park mini bus for a fabulous, leisurely drive, which took everyone through the the stunning avenue of trees near Kingston Lacy, before they admired the open fields on the other side.

The Georgian town of Blandford Forum was their final destination, where the ladies enjoyed a stroll over the towns foot bridges and took in the scenery by the riverbank.

Heading back towards the town itself, they stopped for the obligatory cuppa and some deliciously tasty chocolate brownies, whilst enjoying the fresh air, before boarding the bus once more and heading back in time for lunch.

What a delightful way to while away the morning.

Creature Teachers!

Residents here at Kings Park were completely entranced by some very weird and wonderful visitors to our home recently...

We were joined by the fabulous folk from Creature Teachers, who arrived at our home with a wide variety of fluffy, furry, smooth and wiggly creatures of all shapes and sizes, as the residents got up close and personal with them, learning all about them as they made their way around each of the residents.

What a fascinating way to spend the afternoon!

THANK YOU The Creature Teachers for a wonderful afternoon.
