Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Grandparents Days

Today, our residents at Lancaster Grange are celebrating Grandparents Day.   This morning we started the day with a service where every resident brought photos of their grandchildren, which led to many interesting stories and conversations.

It's a day to hear from grandparents too. What's the best thing about being a grandparent? Is it seeing a sparkle in their eyes because they are happy to see you?   We also discussed why it's important to acknowledge grandparents.

Grandparents Day can help to make children more aware of the many ways in which their grandparents often influence their lives.   It's a good time for grandchildren (and their parents) to reflect on the guidance they receive from older generations and to show their appreciation.

This afternoon, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to see family and enjoyed delicious hot chocolates together.  Another beautiful day here at Lancaster Grange

Macmillan Coffee Morning

This morning at Lancaster Grange we held our Macmillan Coffee Morning Macmillan Cancer Support in the gardens with the sun shining through.

Thank you to all the families who have booked in to support us at this event.

The residents had a wonderful time as we all played a fun outdoor game of bingo together.

This felt like a lovely gathering again.

Thanks for all the delicious cake donations that we have received we raised a total of £72

Creative writing

We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.

We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.

Cruising with Unilever

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.

Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.

Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.

When I'm cleaning windows!

This morning at Lancaster Grange we had a fantastic performance from Northeast Producers Ltd “when I’m cleaning windows”. We sang a range of songs and enjoyed a wonderful morning following the story of Jim the Squeeze and Jack the Lad.

Lots of happy and Excitable residents Songs of reminiscence with a personal meaning - a lovely fun and heart-warming morning enjoyed by all. Looking forward to our Christmas panto.

Wine tasting virtual event

We had a lovely time joining Hospitality Manager, Christophe Noel and special guests Lee Isaacs DipWSET and Nick Parker from Unity Wines and Spirits – as they introduced us to wine tasting techniques, the history of wine and wine making, as well as consumer attitudes.

Our residents had the opportunity to try a variety of wines from sparkling and white to rose and red, alongside a selection of delicious treats.

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.
