Activities at Laurel Bank Care Home
Activities are a fundamental part of a rich and varied lifestyle here at Laurel Bank Care Home, which is why we organise both physically and mentally stimulating social events for those we support. The weekly itinerary is ever-changing, and regularly includes art lessons, chair-based exercise, trips and visits from a variety of different animals, as well as one-to-one time for residents who prefer the peace and quiet. Our team actively tries to incorporate the hobbies and interests that are meaningful to residents into the activities schedule as encouragement to continue with much-loved pastimes.
Jaimy Lee Almond
Hi, my name is Jaimy Lee, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Laurel Bank.
I have worked in the care home industry for over nine years. I started working at Laurel Bank in 2018 as a carer, and then, I was promoted to senior carer which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I moved over to activities in 2020, as I was asked to help out and help encourage residents to join in. During this, I realised how much fun it could be and chose to stay on and got promoted to Activities Coordinator.
I love my role as every day is different and I try to make sure the residents are happy and engage in meaningful activities, this also helps support the transition for new residents.

Life at Laurel Bank Care Home
Beautiful bouquets
Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.
During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.
We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.
Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.
A fond farewell
After almost 18 years of continuous service at Laurel Bank Care Home, in Lancaster, much-loved Care Practitioner, Lois Crowe has decided to say goodbye.
Staff and residents at the home sent Lois off in style with afternoon tea and presents to thank her for many years of dedication. Everyone at the home has very fond memories of Lois and she will be sadly missed.
During her time at Laurel Bank, Lois has worked her way up from being a Care Assistant, to later on a Senior Carer and then taking the role of Care Practitioner. Lois was always so supportive of her colleagues and made sure they were thanked for all that they did she even took part in the tour de Barchester to support the activities team and raise money for the home.
Keeping the mind active

We have fun everyday
What a wonderful day we've had at Laurel Bank! We've had a full range of activities on from coffee mornings, to armchair travels to a birthday party! A fun day has been had by all!
Every day is a school day!
Jenn and Patsy had fun learning more about the digital way of life! Patsy got to learn about slideshows and viewing photographs on the computer, and it was really lovely to reminisce about the past whilst learning about the future!
Musical mystery tour
Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.
Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.
The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.
