Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Burns celebrations

Leeming Bar Grange care home in Leeming Bar prepared a traditional Burns Night Supper to the tune of bagpipes & accordion and the fun continued well into the night.  Staff and residents at the home were involved in a number of activities including learning the ‘pas-de-basque; a traditional Scottish dance to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding race’ – the haggis.

Say Cheese!

Here at Leeming Bar Grange, on 20th January, residents celebrated National Cheese Lovers Day. We held our very own cheese & wine soiree! Residents loved sampling the range of cheeses all washed down with a cheeky bit of fizz!

,

Happy Hat Day

This January we celebrated Happy Hat Day with Oomph Wellness. Residents had fun designing their own funky hats to make others smile! We hope they make you smile too!

Hot Toddy Social

Word on the grapevine says it's Hot Toddy Day on 11th January in the US which is a celebration residents were keen to adopt! Cockles were warmed with this spiced boozy beverage. Paired with some extra sweetness from a selection of handmade fudge. Whilst enjoying the special refreshments residents enjoyed a boozy quiz followed by a good old fashioned sing along!

New Year's Eve Celebrations

Residents here at Leeming Bar Grange celebrated new year's eve in the best way possible! With good food, good drink, and even better company! Staff and resident swould like to wish everyone a happy new year!

Royal Parks London

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
