Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Kimberley Calvert
Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!
We recently enjoyed our first coastal trip of the year with a jaunt on the homes mini bus to Redcar seafront for traditional fish & chips and ice cream!
Whilst the sun wasn't as bright as forecast we couldn't go all the way to the coast without having a little paddle in the sea! Nothing stops us Yorkshire lot!
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to join in the fun, especially those team members who very kindly volunteered their time on their day off.
Prosecco Picnic
The bubbles & conversation were flowing under the glorious sunshine at our prosecco picnic! Residents enjoyed a selection of tasty treats including cheeses, smoked meats & fresh fruits, all washed down with their choice of bubbles! What a fabulous way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon!
Garden Paw-ty!
Following on from National Best Friend Day; we today welcomed man's best friend into the home for a pooch friendly picnic!
As the sun shone brightly we filled our bellies with treats such as hot dogs, pupcorn, fetch-sticks, pupcakes, & cheese-ruffs! With the pooches enjoying dog-friendly flapjack and dog biscuits lovingly homemade by residents
An absolutely pawfect afternoon! A huge thank you to everyone who came along to join in the fun!
Man's Best Friend
In June we marked National Best Friend Day with an outing on the homes mini bus to visit man's best friend at Dogs Trust Darlington
With encouragement from resident Alma who previously worked to rehome & rescue dogs, we came together to create a donation of food & treats for the pups at Dogs Trust. And what better day than National Best Friend Day to take a visit to the rehoming centre to donate these gifts!
Whilst at the centre we of course had to meet some of the lovely pooches, and was extra lucky to have cuddles with Boo; a 9 year old Staffie who has been at the centre for one week who has already found a forever home which she was going to today!
A huge thank you to the Darlington team today for allowing us a fantastic visit to the centre. It is clear to see how passionate the team are in providing the best care for all the dogs
Another thank you must go to everyone who donated food & treats for this fantastic cause!
RAF Hendon
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.
Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.
The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.
Pets at the Palaces
Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.
Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.
Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes. It was a truly lovely time for all.
