Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Kimberley Calvert
Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Long Service Award
Recently we celebrated Kitchen Assistant Simon Brabbin who has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award to mark working at Leeming Bar Grange for ten years! Simon started at LBG in 2012 and has worked tirelessly to ensure residents and their loved ones enjoy a personalised fine dining experience!
Michelle Keep, General Manager of Leeming Bar Grange said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating ten years of loyal service with Simon. He has demonstrated his dedication and loyalty to this home and it's residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Leeming Bar Grange when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Simon!”
Here's to many more years for you, Simon!
Butterfly World
In September we enjoyed a fabulous trip out to Butterfly World at Preston Park! Residents, their loved ones & the team were transported to a tropical rainforest filled with over 100 species of butterfly freely flying around the beautiful array of plants & flowers! We also got to meet reptiles, meerkats, and 'wished upon a fish' at the koi pond!
We were very lucky to have some September sun and enjoyed a lovely picnic courtesy of our super kitchen team. Residents spoke about how great the day was and cannot wait to visit again to further explore Preston Park Museum and Grounds
Arts in Care Homes Day
On 24th September we marked The National Day of Arts in Care Homes by hosting an autumnal crafternoon! Residents creativity flowed freely as they utilised a range of mediums to showcase the fiery hues of autumn!
Residents spoke about how painting is "relaxing and therapeutic", adding "it's good to keep busy". One lovely lady spoke about how enjoyable it was to be creative whilst reminiscing fondly of how she would colour with her children.
As you can see by those smiles a wonderful afternoon was had by all!
Beautiful bouquets
Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.
During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.
We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.
Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.
Carnival comes to Leeming
Staff and residents at Leeming Bar Grange care home in Leeming Bar, have decorated their home and garden to re-create the atmosphere of the Notting Hill Carnival this August. Staff and residents have had a fantastic time experiencing all the Caribbean flavours of the carnival from street food to cocktails and steelband music, there has been a real carnival vibe at the home.
The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual Caribbean festival featuring sound systems and parade bands that has taken place since the mid 1960s on the streets of London around Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove. The carnival has been absent for over two years and so residents wanted to celebrate its return in style by bringing the carnival to Leeming Bar.
Music through the ages
Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.
Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.
The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.
