Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Residents celebrate the Queens official Birthday

Residents at Leeming Bar Grange had a wonderful day as they marked the Queens official 95th Birthday with a royal tea party in the beautiful sunshine.

Our head chef whipped up a tasty selection of freshly-baked biscuits, pastries and cakes for the special occasion, all washed down with pots of tea.

We enjoyed a variety of royal–themed events including watching virtual tours of royal palaces, writing letters to the Queen, watching old clips of royal tours and occasions.

It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.

Residents discover the history and treasures of Hereford Cathedral

Residents had a lovely afternoon joining the team from Hereford Cathedral as they were given a glimpse of the spectacular building and its treasures as they were taken on a tour of the site.

From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library, the virtual visit shared the history and beauty of the historic building.

It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.

A big thank you to all of our wonderful Carers!

We would like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful Carers at Leeming Bar Grange.

We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

Our Carers were thrilled to receive chocolates and cards from Barchester, along with handmade gifts from the residents.

Caring goes far beyond meeting the basic needs of residents. Caring comes from the heart.

Residents celebrate National Fish & Chip Day

Staff and Residents at Leeming Bar Grange took full advantage of the lovely warm weather and had a trip out in the minibus for a traditional chippy lunch down by Bedale Beck.

The sun was shining as we tucked into the delicious fish & chips, and we were even visited by the local ducks.

It was wonderful to see our residents relax and unwind whilst gaining some much needed normality after the year it's been. We look forward to more trips like this in the near future.

Residents enjoy safari trip

Staff and residents at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home were pleased to be able to dive into the wild safari life of Knowsley Safari and to enjoy an amazing live stream tour of the park’s grounds.

Our residents were smiling and laughing as they got up close and personal with some of the safari’s most popular animals, including giraffes and meerkats.

We had a wonderful time learning more about the animals and enjoying some live feeding demonstrations.

Staff and Residents Celebrate Best Companies Award

There were happy scenes at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home as staff and residents celebrated Barchester Healthcare being placed 43rd in the top 75 Best Companies in Yorkshire and the Humber to work for.

The Best Companies awards recognise companies’ commitment to their employees and to workplace engagement and are made all the more meaningful because they are awarded based on feedback from a randomly selected cross-section of the company’s own employees.

It is absolutely wonderful to be recognised as an Outstanding company to work for, we are all so proud. We all love what we do and I think that shines through. At Barchester, we are a family and the past year has shown that we can do anything if we all pull together.
