Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Residents at Leeming Bar had a wonderful day celebrating International Friendship Day!

We created our own sunshine in the home through singing & dancing, games, treats & the company of our dear friends! As the song goes; you make me happy when skies are grey.

A wonderful day, enjoyed thoroughly by all.

Shower ready at Leeming Bar Grange!

Our wonderful Senior Carer Tracy, donned her swimming costume this morning to encourage one of our more nervous residents to enjoy a refreshing shower.

We understand that being supported with care needs can be particularly anxiety provoking, therefore we ensure we speak with residents to find ways to make things more comfortable, and create an experience filled with fun & laughter!

Tracy and our resident had a positive experience and there were lots of laughs and smiles!

A visit from our furry friends!

The residents & team at Leeming Bar Grange were absolutely delighted to have a visit from Jack & Wendy from Therapy Dogs Nationwide today!

We have thoroughly missed our regular visits from Jack & Wendy so we are incredibly excited that we can now see each other several times a month for lots of cuddles!

Thank you for creating the brightest of smiles within the home.

Residents find out about our mechanical friends!

We enjoyed a wonderful virtual introduction to the world of robots with V&A Dundee Curator, Kirsty Hassard.

Kirsty talked us through the history of robots and their early beginnings, the presentation traced the fascination of all things wired and wonderful and considered what the future might hold for our relationship with a multitude of mechanical machines.

It was absolutely thrilling to learn what robots can do now and what they might be able to do in the future.

Residents tour the magnificent gardens at Blenheim Palace

Residents and staff had a lovely time exploring the amazing gardens of Blenheim Palace through a virtual talk, hosted by the Historian - Antonia Keaney.

We enjoyed a virtual look at how the gardens at Blenheim have developed over the past 300 years - from the formality of Henry Wise through to the ‘natural’ landscape created by Capability Brown and beyond.

Everyone was very impressed by the many jewels hidden within the 150 acres of beautiful gardens.
