Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert
Senior Activities Coordinator
Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.
Celebrating life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
An Eggcellent Afternoon!
This Easter we welcomed our loved ones and community into the home for an eggstra special Easter egg hunt!
From the thrill of the egg hunt to the quiet moments of connection, the weekend truly was "egg-stra" special.
A huge thank you to all who visited. It was lovely to see friends old and new. We hope to see you all again soon!
Butterfly kisses and birthday wishes
This April we had a truly wonderful time celebrating two very special ladies, Alma and Olive! To celebrate these special occasions, we adventured to beautiful Butterfly World Ltd in Stockton on Tees!
Our nature-loving ladies were absolutely delighted as they explored the beautiful flora and fauna, fed the koi, and soaked up the magic of the rainforest surroundings.
The day was made even more special with a relaxed picnic together, followed by a beautiful butterfly-themed cake to celebrate in delicious style!
Happy birthday, Alma and Olive!
Happy Mother's Day
LBG was alive with smiles and special moments as we celebrated our wonderful Mother's and Mother Figures!
Residents and loved ones spent time being pampered in preparation for our special Mother's Day lunch, courtesy of our very talented kitchen team who created a beautiful traditional roast dinner with all the trimmings, taking residents and loved ones back to those beautiful memories of celebratory family meals of times gone by.
Our wonderful ladies also received a very special request from 'Leeming Mini' Carson, who presented the ladies with a beautiful invitation to request the pleasure of their company at lunch.
Our lovely ladies were also treated to sweet treats to recognise everything Mother's and Mother Figures do to fill our lives with sweetness.
We would just like to say a huge thank you to those who came along today to make the day so wonderful and for allowing us to be part of your special day with your mother's & other figures.
We hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day!
Celebrating wonderful women
We celebrated International Women’s Day with a truly special afternoon tea!
We were delighted to welcome a group of incredible women who are making such a positive difference in our community, including our Knit & Natter ladies, Lynne, Eva, and Jane, along with PCSOs Charlotte and Lucy from North Yorkshire Police, loved ones, and, of course, our beautiful residents. It was a wonderful opportunity for our residents and guests to come together, share stories, laughter and celebrate the strength, kindness and inspiration of women.
Visiting Activities Coordinator, Neil, from Highfield Care Home, very kindly shared his wonderful musical talent with everyone, serenading our ladies with their favourite hits of the decade, whilst also waiting on them hand and foot, ensuring everyone had bubbles and brews a-plenty!
As a heartfelt gesture, residents created keepsake empowerment boxes for each guest to take home; a small reminder of just how appreciated, inspiring and wonderful they truly are.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to make the afternoon so special.
Valentine's Day
This February the home was filled with warmth as we celebrated love in all its beautiful forms this Valentine’s Day! The day reminded us that love isn’t just romantic, it's kindness, companionship, memories, and simply being there for one another.
To our wonderful residents, families and team; thank you for making our home such a caring and joyful place every single day; sending love to all.

Bun Appetit!
The home was filled with the wonderful aroma of spices and the sound of joyful voices as we celebrated Good Friday with a very special "Bun Appetit" Afternoon Tea! Residents came together to enjoy a spread of delicious treats; including a variety of toasted hot cross buns, hot cross bun trifle, and flavourful hot cross coffee!
A lovely afternoon of community and reflection as we shared stories and sang traditional hymns together.

St Georges Day
It was all dragons and roses all round, as residents and staff celebrated St George’s Day. Legend has it St George was a soldier in the Roman army who slayed a dragon and saved a princess, the anniversary of his death is celebrated as England’s national day.
In honour of the patron saint of England, staff and residents at the home marked the day with a delightfully British Pimm’s Picnic, filled with laughter, song, sunshine, and the best company!
Everyone enjoyed Pimm's a-plenty, alongside a delicious spread of British fare, whilst singing along to patriotic tunes; the perfect recipe for a memorable afternoon! The celebrations didn’t stop there, the home also proudly presented their very own “Keep Calm and Carry On” style awards, recognising resident’s unique personalities, kindness, and contributions that make the home so special.

Little bear hugs
In the lead up to Mother’s Day we were delighted to welcome Little Bear Nursery to the home for a very special morning of storytime, sing-alongs, bubbles, and plenty of cuddles! Moments like these remind us how special intergenerational friendships can be.
A huge thank you to Little Bear Nursery for brightening our day once again, we can’t wait to see you again soon!
Happy Mother's Day!

Minibus adventures
We recently took a lovely outing on the home's mini bus to Thirsk Garden Centre as requested by residents!
Everyone enjoyed browsing the beautiful displays and seasonal wares, and after a little retail therapy, residents made their way to the beautiful café.
Surrounded by twinkling lights and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere, residents sank into comfort as they enjoyed delicious treats and warming brews together.
A wonderful outing, surrounded by wonderful people. A huge thank you to little James' family for allowing us to have some cuddles in the cafe! A perfect way to spend the day; full of smiles, laughter and meaningful moments shared
We’re already looking forward to our next adventure!
Love across Generations
In the lead up to Valentine's Day, we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors from Little Bear Nursery! The residents and the little ones spent a wonderful morning together creating beautiful Valentine’s cards, sharing smiles, laughter, and love.
The children very kindly gifted residents and the team the sweetest little heart keepsakes as well as cards, which have taken pride of place in bedrooms and memory boxes alike. There were smiles all around as everyone enjoyed creativity, song, bubble popping, and, of course, lots of cuddles and hugs!
Moments like these remind us that love comes in many forms; friendship, kindness, laughter, and connection across generations. A huge thank you to Little Bear Nursery for filling the home with so much joy and happiness. We can’t wait to welcome you back soon!
Joys of Spring and silent disco!
Spring has officially sprung; and so have our dance moves!
The home was alive with the joys of spring as we welcomed the fabulous Pete Goldup - The Silent Disco DJ into the home for another bloomin' brilliant silent disco!
Everyone hopped into spring, dancing like nobody was watching! From toe-tapping tunes to full-on boogie moments, the room was alive with laughter, music, and plenty of springtime cheer! It’s definitely safe to say spirits were in full bloom!
A huge thank you to DJ Pete for helping us blossom on the dance floor once again!
Here’s to many more moments that make our hearts spring with joy.
Home complete fundraising chicken run!
Staff at Leeming Bar have taken part in a sponsored fun run to raise money for Leeming Bar Grange Resident’s Fund.
Staff had an egg-cellent time taking part in the 5k Northallerton Parkrun as part of the home’s 'Chicken Run' fundraiser. All in support of raising funds for some egg-stra special Easter treats for their wonderful residents! There were smiles, laughter, and a few speedy sprints along the way, and they even managed to answer the age-old question of who came first, the chicken or the egg! Despite ending up as roasted chickens and a fried egg, everyone did egg-cellently!
Fan-tastic Ladies
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations we enjoyed a fan-tastic dancing session!
Our lovely ladies danced gracefully with their beautiful, brightly coloured fans, filling the room with smiles, laughter, and a splash of vibrant colour!
It was such a joy to watch everyone moving to the music and enjoying the moment together. After the dancing, it was time for a little royal treatment! Our team stepped in to fan the ladies like the queens that they truly are! A perfect way to relax, laugh, and celebrate the incredible women in our home.
Thank you to everyone who joined in and made it such a special moment!
Home raises funds for Comic Relief
Staff and residents have taken part in a ‘Rockabilly Ball’ to raise money for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day on March 20th. Staff and residents at the home donned their best rock n roll outfits, and got stuck in to help raise funds for this very important cause!
The home was all shook up with laughter, music, and plenty of dancing as everyone got into the spirit of the day, with some jovial jiving at the home’s ‘Rockabilly Ball’! Guitarist Chris Gilly, had everyone rockin’ around the clock, before everyone chilled like true rock stars with some delicious ice cream topped with indulgent syrups and sprinkles galore!
Paws-itively Wonderful Visitors
Residents and the team are thrilled to welcome Therapy Dogs Alf and Billy from Jack and Pals Therapy Dogs for their weekly visits!
There are always bright smiles and cuddles a-plenty, with heartwarming moments created as Alf and Billy make their rounds, spreading comfort and joy wherever they go!
From gentle strokes to playful paw-shakes, these visits are always simply un-fur-gettable, with residents fondly reminiscing of beloved pets from years gone by; proving that the love of a dog is truly timeless.
