Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Residents enjoy Pride month

This June, staff and residents at Leeming Bar have been celebrating Pride Month with an explosion of colour! Residents, loved ones, and the team enjoyed a Pride party in the glorious sunshine with enthusiastic karaoke renditions, delicious ice cream, rainbow sweetie bar, and showstopping rainbow cakes made with love by the homes second chef Karen Garbutt!

Exploring the Eden Project

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.

During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories.  A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.

Midsummer Magic!

We celebrated the summer solstice in the glorious sunshine with an enchanted midsummer garden party! Residents celebrated nature by brewing their own rose & honey tea, decorating fairy doors to adorn the garden, and created flower crowns using wild flowers kindly picked by resident Brenda.

A wonderful way to begin the summer!

Royal-Teas!

This June we celebrated His Majesty King Charles III's official birthday. We began our celebrations by watching the Trooping the Colour Parade, and preparing classic fruit scones for our afternoon get together.

Residents enjoyed tucking in to a delicious traditional cream tea whilst learning more about the royal family and raising a toast whilst enthusiastically singing 'God Save the King'!

A day fit for a King if we do say so ourselves!

,

Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated our wonderful father's & father figures in the home with a delicious traditional beef roast dinner with all the trimmings & shandies galore, followed by an incredible musical theatre performance of 'Love Me Do'; a Beatles themed musical theatre performance by Cat's Pyjamas Productions!

Whilst celebrating our gents in the home we also took time to reminisce fondly of the important men who have been a part of our lives.

Cheers to all the fabulous father's, devoted dad's, & marvellous men who make the world a better place! And a huge thank you to Carole from Cat's Pyjamas Productions for making our day extra special!

D-Day Landings

Leeming Bar marked the 80th anniversary of the D Day Landings by watching the services that were talking place both in Portsmouth and in France attended by the King and Queen, Prince William and many brave veterans who took part in those dangerous missions so many years ago.

Staff and residents were interested to see the ceremonies honouring the bravery and telling the stories of those who fought so selflessly to ensure our freedom, attended by those that survived and honouring those that didn’t come home.

Kathryn Billett, General Manager said: “Many of our residents can remember the D Day Landings and we all know what it meant for our country so we wanted to mark the date, follow the ceremonies and listen to our residents’ memories of the war and the experiences they lived through.”
