Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Kimberley Calvert
Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Comic Relief at the ready!
Staff, residents, and loved ones at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home in Leeming Bar have taken part in a ‘Sing & Scoff’ community sing along & bake sale to raise money for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day on March 15th.
Staff and residents at the home donned their red noses and got stuck in to help raise funds for this very important cause. The wonderful Liz from ‘Liz Latta’s Music Matters’ hosted a fabulously upbeat community choir session followed by a delicious assortment of sweet treats & warming brews at a fundraising bake sale.
Eyes down for bingo bonzana
Staff and residents joined fellow keen dabbers from over 250 Barchester care homes and hospitals across the whole of the UK, including Wales, Scotland, Jersey and the Isle of Wight, to compete in the biggest game of bingo Barchester has ever seen!
General Manager, Kathryn Billet said: “We’ve got some real bingo fanatics at our home, we are very competitive - our residents love taking part in anything where winning is involved, you could hear a pin drop in here when we were all playing.”
Take the Leap!
Today the Leeming Bar Leap-Year Frog has been hopping about the home encouraging residents and the team to think about accomplishments they would like to achieve by taking the leap this year..
Watch this space for 'Juney's Jewels', An Art Exhibition, and Fundraising Skinny Dipping! We can't wait to see what other leaps residents and the team will take this year!
If you're looking for a sign to take a leap of faith this year..this is it!
London Ladies
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.
Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.
Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.
Music Magic!
The home was alive with the sound of music today as we were joined once again by the amazing Liz from ‘Liz Latta's Music Matters’ for our community choir! Passionate renditions of Edelweiss, White Cliffs of Dover, and Catch a Falling Star were shared, along with enthusiastic singing to upbeat ditties such as She'll be Coming Round the Mountain, Dem Bones, and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! The power of music in providing connection is absolute magic!
Welcoming the Year of the Dragon!
On 10th February we celebrated the start of the lunar New year with a virtual trip to China to experience the sights, sounds, and flavours of Chinese New Year!
A delicious selection of dim sum were sampled as residents embraced this cultural experience. From learning Chinese greetings, exploring zodiac signs & participating in Chinese traditions, to receiving a visit from our very own dragon who performed a flamboyant dance to share prosperity & cheer!
Happy New Year to everyone celebrating the Chinese festivities!
