Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Home host Macmillan Coffee Morning

Staff and residents at Leeming Bar Grange in Leeming Bar held a charity coffee morning and bake sale on 29th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Having a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

Birthday Celebrations!

It was all aboard the birthday bus as resident Richard was surprised with an outing to his old stomping ground of Marske-by-the-Sea!

Richards and his friends were treated to a trip down memory lane by driver Ken who gave a tour of all Marske has to offer, before parking up for a birthday picnic overlooking the sea. Richard was brought to tears as all his fond memories flooded back

Seeing how it was a very special day it seemed only right for our Yorkshire gent and his friends to be treated to quite possibly the tastiest pies in town from Taylor's Butchers & Cafe! And of course the day wouldn't be complete without an incredible birthday baked by chef Karen!

A lovely day for an even lovelier gent! A huge happy birthday Richard!

A Trip Down Memory Lane

This September the lovely Margaret and her son had their wish granted to visit the beautiful market town of Helmsley. Margaret and her son have very fond memories of living and working in Helmsley and wished to take a trip down memory lane together.

Together we enjoyed some of the wonderful experiences Helmsley has to offer; from delicatessens, fish & chips, boutiques, traditional dairy ice cream, stone architecture, old fashioned sweeties, market stalls, and friendly pooches!

We were incredibly lucky to receive a guided tour of Margaret's previous workplace; Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa courtesy of hotel manager Ingo. A huge thank you to Ingo and his wonderful team who all took time to spend time with Margaret to fondly reminisce .

A big thank you to Margaret and her son for sharing fond memories with us and showing us around such a lovely little town.

Costa Del Leeming

August’s Reminiscence Café took a trip to Costa Del Leeming!

Residents enthusiastically sang along as accordionist Alan played uplifting ditties. Some of which we couldn't help but personalise with our own words; such as “there’ll be seagulls over the green fields of Leeming”. Bestest boy Jack the Dog from Therapy Dogs Nationwide couldn't wait to have a splish splash in the pool.. entertaining residents as he survived a shark attack!
