Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.
Lynn Amiri
My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.
Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.
The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.
I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home
Live Entertainment
We were thrilled to invite The Bentley Handbell Ringers to our home to perform for residents. We all had a good singalong and then the ladies brought the bells out so we could all have a go. We were surprised by how heavy they were and how much effort had to go into ringing them.
Japanese Tea Ceremony
We held a Japanese Tea Ceremony; Chado, also called 'Way with Tea', is a Japanese cultural tradition involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of powdered green tea. The residents said they found the talk and presentation very interesting and enjoyed tasting the tea and biscuits.
We would like to thank the Urasenke Tankokai UK Association for arranging for Yusuke and his fellow students to perform the ceremony for us.
Memory Boxes
As part of the Barchester 10-60-6 dementia programme, we have been helping residents make memory boxes that they can store photos and special mementos in. As you can see, they have been very creative in their designs.
Valentine's Day Party
Reception was packed for our Valentine's Day party and we had lots of good reasons to celebrate. Not only was it the day of love, but it was also the birthday of 2 of our lovely ladies: Rhoda and Ethel. There was entertainment by Billy Blue Rondo and we had gorgeous cakes provided by local company, double-s-cakes. Everybody agreed it was the perfect way to celebrate.
A Day at Brentwood School
We were thrilled to be invited to Brentwood School for a carol concert and afternoon tea. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the students who couldn't do enough for us. The singing was superb and we all had a really good time.
Meet the Neighbours
We held a 'Meet the Neighbours' party, which was a great success with good food, excellent entertainment provided by Billy Blue Rondo, and great company.
