Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Halloween Spook-tac-ular

With help from the residents, we decorated the lounge and the reception area to make a spooky atmosphere for our families and friends that came to visit us. A massive thank you to Morrison’s, who kindly donated 35 pumpkins and carving tools for our activity.

As you can see from the pictures, it was so much fun singing & dancing to The Monster Mash. Lots of the staff joined in and we even got the residents families to carve a few pumpkins for those that preferred to stay in their rooms. We combined this with Picasso’s birthday. Frankenstein meets Picasso in our arts and crafts afternoon.

They were Spook-tac-ular!

The Peterborough Flute Choir

A huge thank you to Charlie and her team, who entertained us on our the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Charlie donated their fee to Macmillan’s Cancer Support — a wonderful worthwhile charity.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who came along and donated to this great cause. We had some superb raffle prizes, plus homemade and shop-bought cakes that were donated to us from family members and staff. We would also like to thank Morrison’s at Werrington for their very kind donation of cakes tea and coffee. We raised Whopping £192.00 for charity!

Vintage Tunes

We went back in time this with some 1930 and '40s music. What a beautiful voice Melody had; it was such a relaxed atmosphere this afternoon. There was lots of singing and reminiscing, bringing back memories of times gone by.

We even had some residents crying with joy, listening and remembering things from when they were that age.

Live Entertainment

Great afternoon with one of our entertainers, Steve Francis. Steve multi-tasked, playing the keyboard and singing a few of our favourite tunes. There was lots for toe tapping, singing and plenty of cake! We even had some residents' family get up and give us a little jig. We hope to see Steve back in the not so distant future.

International Cat Day

We need to say a big thank you to one of our carers, Karen, and her lovely husband, who helped us to celebrate two special events: we celebrated International Cat Day (we admit a few days late) and one of our resident's birthday too!

It was a big secret and an absolute delight to interact with the three kittens they brought in! At only six weeks old, staff and residents alike fell for these little cuties!!
