Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Life at Longueville Court Care Home

Sailability

Residents had a 45 minute trip around the lake and then went to the restaurant overlooking the lake for a hot coffee and cake.

Gardening Club

Great to see our residents helping Paul, our gardener, maintain the garden, wgucg are full of colour and they look “blooming lovely."

Royal Celebrations

To celebrate the Queen’s birthday, we had a proper English afternoon cream tea, which was definitely fit for a Queen. Fresh cream cakes were made by our wonderful chefs, Nasco and Artur.

We sat and watched the Queen’s birthday in style on our new interactive table, which was then followed by a documentary about the Queen’s life growing up.

Easter Donation

What a wonderful Easter weekend we had a Longueville court. In preparation for Easter, we started making Easter bonnets and had a prize for the best bonnet. We also had an Easter hunt around the home and in the garden, which was great fun.

On Easter Sunday, we had a wonderful grand afternoon cream tea.

To top it all, we would like to say a massive thank you to the ladies of the Peterborough Shoe Box volunteers, Michaela & her colleague. They collected a whopping 135 eggs for all of our residents and staff.

It certainly wasn’t a weekend to start a diet!

The Grand National

Our social Sunday became a social Saturday. We did a fun sweepstake with the residents and staff. Our prizes were champagne, chocolates and, of course, the winnings.

We saw our residents studying form in the racing post, choosing very wisely who they thought might win the race.

Our social afternoon was a themed day at the races with champagne, cold buffet nibbles and beautiful fascinators for all our residents that participated.

Flower Power

A huge thanks to our superstores Morrison’s and Tesco, who kindly donated bunches of flowers for our residents for Mother’s Day. The lounges and rooms looked vibrant and beautiful. Residents participated in flower arranging, which is definitely one of their favourite activities.
