Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.

I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.

My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Ballroom Dancing At East Sussex National

We feel so passionately about supporting people to carry on living, hoping and dreaming when they move in to Lydfords.

Since starting our wish list project of 'Living your Hopes and Dreams' Sydney was the first to share his love of dancing and how keen he was to go to a dance again. This afternoon General Manager Rikki, Activities coordinator Sue and the very smartly dressed Sydney attended an afternoon of dance at The East Sussex National.

We all had the most amazing time and it was lovely to share the afternoon with Syd, listening to his dancing days in Brighton and hearing about the mods, rockers and Teddy boys

Exercise Class At Hailsham Leisure Centre

We attended Hailsham Leisure Centre for their strength and movement exercise class. The idea of attending a local gym was discussed in our most recent residents meeting by staff members who have completed their 'Falls Fighter' course and become advocates in falls prevention. Improving strength, coordination and fitness helps reduce the risk of falls and injury.

Our residents were keen to enjoy a trip to the local gym and join in with other members of the community to improve wellbeing and enjoy the social benefits as well.

Thank you freedom leisure for a fantastic class. We'll be back!

Free Spinal Checks from Phoenix Health Hub for staff, residents and local community

Lydfords care home, in East Hoathly invited Phoenix Health Hub in to offer free health checks to residents, staff and the local community.

Johnny and Maria came to Lydfords for the morning and did free spinal and health checks to those who wanted one and answered any questions that they had. It was a busy morning and everyone found it really interesting.

Local primary school visit to read their school books

The local primary school came in for a visit and read to residents.
The children came in with their school books and to see everyone.
They all found a spot in the lounge and listened whilst the children read to them. There was also some great conversations going on and lots of laughter.

Visit to Raystede Centre For Animal Welfare

On a lovely fresh morning Sue and Lily-Rose accompanied the residents on a trip to Raystede Centre For Animal Welfare. It was a beautiful morning which blew away the cobwebs. They all went for a stroll to see the animals. The goats were particularly sociable.

Scarbble Afternoon

Scrabble is often a popular chioce to play within the home. The ladies have been brushing up on their skills and enjoying a fun game between friends.
