Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Lydfords Care Home
After Dinner Quiz
Last night after dinner the home was filled with excitement for our monthly quiz night.
Teams got together to take part in a general knowledge quiz. It’s a great way to spend the evening with drinks, nibbles and great company.
Congratulations to the winning team this month ‘I don’t know’
2nd Anniversary at Lydfords
It has been two years since our home opened and the celebrations were in full swing today.
Our chefs have been busy preparing all week and did an amazing job on the food and the cake.
This afternoon we had a party to mark the occasion with the wonderful singer Gem Stillman.
We were very honoured to have a VIP guest today, the Mayor Of Uckfield Councillor Jackie Love attend our celebrations.
We all had a wonderful time marking the date together.
Trip To Herstmonceux Observatory Science Centre
We had a such a fun trip to the incredible Herstmonceux Obervatory.
The centre has interesting historical links to the world of star gazing. The observatory was originally in London and was known as the The Royal Greenwich Observatory founded by King Charles II in 1675. Due to light pollution in the early 19th century, it was moved down to Herstmonceux. Where it still has working telescopes.
We were able to take a tour inside the telescopes and spend time in the educational centre, which was lots of fun.
Not to mention the gorgeous and historic scenery of the Herstmonceux Castle right next door.
Employee Of The Month September
Congratulations to Rose who has been awarded Employee Of The Month for September.
Rose is our House Keeping Assistant.
Staff and Residents voted for Rose to win as she is hard working, stepping up when needed, always having a happy face and willing to help out anytime.
Rose is an important part of our team here at Lydfords and all that she does is always appreciated by us all.
Feel The Sea Breeze As You Cycle
Residents visited the charity Cycling without Age in Seaford. We were escorted by our pilots, Mary and Delores, along the promenade to the yacht club where we stopped for a cuppa and a chat, taking in the wonderful sights along the way. The weather was perfect with a light sea breeze in our hair. We are looking forward to our next outing with them.
Cycling without Age is a charity based in Seaford, we'd highly recommend a visit.
Gardening Therapy
Gardeners in full swing yesterday, they even had time for a cheeky tea break.
We enjoyed this autumn heatwave and seized the opportunity to prep the beds for winter. And work on our winter boxes.
