Activities at Lydfords Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Uckfield Choir Performs
We have had the wonderful The Uckfield Singers Community Choir in to perform.
They sang a lovely range of songs and everyone joined in and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
It was particularly special for one of our residents who used to be a member and lovely for her to be reunited with some friends.

Skin Care And Makeup Class
Today was our skin event held by Sarah Allen, Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Sarah spoke about the importance of skin care and how to best look after it.
We learnt about the products and top makeup tips.
We were able to try products and given samples to take away.
Another informative and enjoyable afternoon.

Meet Lola, our Duke Of Edinburgh Volunteer
Lola is doing her Duke Of Edinburgh Bronze Award. Part of her achieving this amazing award is to volunteer within the community and we are very lucky that Lola asked to come to ours.
Lola comes in every week and spends time with the residents. They spend time doing crafts and chatting.
Our residents really enjoy this time of the week and Lola looks forward to visiting us also. Lola said when chatting “I really enjoy spending time and getting to know everyone here, they have so many wonderful stories and are very interesting to talk. I love the feel of the home and the hot chocolate is pretty tasty too.”
We would like to say thank you to Lola for making such a difference and always providing a lovely afternoon for our residents to enjoy.
Good luck with you Duke Of Edinburgh and we cannot wait to congratulate you when you get it.

Shopping Morning

Artistic Creation And Design
We have had a delightful afternoon getting crafty and decorating hearts!
Some got a splash of paint, while others bloomed with beautiful silk flowers.
Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon and seeing each others end results.

A poetic morning at Lydfords
We were delighted to welcome a special guest today. Lynne Worrell from Wealden Funeral Services came in and spent the morning reading heartfelt verses with our residents. From classic gems to contemporary pieces.
Lynne is very passionate about giving her time back and has a close connection with poetry readings to make others feel good.
She even had competition from Kath who also loves to read poems to everyone on occasion.
