Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Life at Lydfords Care Home
It's Christmas Day At Lydfords
It was so lovely to see the joy and smiles from residents and staff in the home today as they opened presents and had their Christmas lunch.
Thank you to the Chef's for a fantastic Christmas meal. The care team for making the day and night a special one for our residents. The Lifestyle and hostess team for providing entertainment and beverages and the housekeeping for keeping a lovely clean and welcoming place to call home.
We hope you all had a lovely day too.
Community Spirit
We feel very honoured to contribute towards South Brockwells Farm and their very generous food parcels they are donating.
South Brockwells are truly amazing at supporting the local community and are giving food parcels with a warming and nutritious dinner to children that are attending their Farm school over Christmas.
They asked if we would like to help and design the recipe cards.
Our residents worked closely with Jessica, who is an art A level student at Uckfield College to create the artwork displayed.
We are the first care home to have twinned with a local farm. The benefits for our residents are amazing and we thank South Brockwells for all they do.
Christmas Fete
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Lydfords care home in East Hoathly to enjoy a wonderful Christmas Fete.
There were all kinds of stalls on offer manned by volunteers, friends and family and lots of local stall holders came along to sell their wares too. There were delicious cakes and chocolate, lovely craft items, fabulous knitwear, Glassware and toiletries, the list goes on!
The team at Lydfords care home would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who either manned a stall, donated a raffle prize or who came along to support the home. There was a fantastic atmosphere.
Rikki-Gene Bury, General Manager at the home, said: “At Lydfords, we are dedicated to making sure that the home is a hub of the local community, and this event, along with everyone’s hard work, has definitely paid off. It was a resounding success! I am so proud of everyone involved, it was a fantastic team effort.”
Christmas Jumper Day
Today we wore our best Christmas Jumpers.
The judging took place this afternoon at our Christmas party where we had a very special dance performance from the Nova School Of Dance. Thank you to all the dancers you are all very talented.
It was another fun filled day at Lydfords
Christmas Wreath Making Workshop
Well what a festive morning of making Christmas Wreaths for our doors.
We had the the very talented florist Lucy from Florist On The Farm in to take the workshop.
With her guidance and our natural creative flare we made some fantastic wreaths and had so much fun doing it.
The Christmas songs were playing in the background and the fire was roaring.
Our way of saying thank you to the community
Every week we are delivering a tasty warm lunch to healthcare professionals and businesses in the Local community.
We appreciate how hard everyone works and as a treat our Chefs are preparing nutritious and tasty homemade soups for all to enjoy at lunchtime.
This week Sam, Home Services Advisor and Sue, Activities Coordinator visited Buxted, East Hoathly and Horam Medical Centres
With East Hoathly being the first one.
We hope you all enjoyed your lunch and thank you for all that you do to support us and everyone in the local community.
