Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Community Christmas cards
Residents and staff alike have really enjoyed looking at all these fabulous hand made cards that East Hoathly Toddler Group, East Hoathly Church of England Primary School, and children from the village have been bringing down to Lydfords, thank you so much for thinking of us!
We hope you all have a fantastic Christmas break!
Christmas Treasure Hunt
Today we had the East Hoathly Toddler Group come to do a Christmas treasure hunt in our lovely gardens.
Our residents enjoyed watching the children do the hunt from the lounge, and each child received a gift bag with a ticket to redeem to see Father Christmas to receive a Christmas gift too.
Thank you to the children, parents & childminders for coming along to see us!
Truffle making with Unilever
Residents at Lydfords enjoyed making delicious home-made chocolate truffles.
The residents chose to make some with rum and some with orange, its safe to say they didn't last long!
Village Elf Hunt
We had lots of visitors from the community coming to Lydfords over the last few days looking for our cheeky elf!
Thank you to the East Hoathly FPTA for letting us take part in the Village Elf Hunt
Bauble Making with Goldfinch Floral Studios
Yesterday we were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas bauble-making masterclass courtesy of the very talented Jennifer Owen at Goldfinch Floral Studio
Residents took inspiration from the class and tried their hand at making their own. Everyone was very proud of the results and decorated the Christmas tree with the amazing baubles.
Festive Shortbread Baking
Some more baking activity today, this time some of the residents made festive shortbread!
