Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Team Induction
Introducing the Lydfords Team, currently undertaking their thorough induction journey, prior to our opening in October.
Barchester is all about doing things a little bit differently. Our unique approach to the care sector sets us apart, so to make things happen our people need to be a little bit different too.
Our residents and their families expect great services, so our professional and dedicated team of specialists actively recruits people who are focused on continually improving the quality of life for the people in our care, to achieve our ambition of Barchester as the leading provider of care services.
Mini Bus arrival
Our activities programme is planned with individual tastes in mind, and residents always have the opportunity to try new and exciting things, including day trips out and about.
We cant wait to take our first residents out on an adventure on our very own minibus!

Blenheim Palace Gardens Virtual Tour
As part of our virtual tour programme Barchester Care Homes had a lovely time exploring the amazing gardens of Blenheim Palace through a virtual talk, hosted by the Historian - Antonia Keaney.
We enjoyed a virtual look at how the gardens at Blenheim have developed over the past 300 years - from the formality of Henry Wise through to the ‘natural’ landscape created by Capability Brown and beyond.
SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary
As part of on going virtual talks and tours we joined the Animal Care Team live online from Iceland at the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary to have an inside look into history of the sanctuary and its mission as well as learn about the daily care for two resident beluga whales: Little White and Little Grey. We were able to see footage of their incredible journey to date, from China all the way to Iceland and what the future holds for these incredible mammals.
