Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Carole Hierons

Activities Lead and Speak Up Champion

Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.

I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.

My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Seated exercises

At Lydfords we know how important it is to keep moving to maintain muscle tone and balance.

Pictured here: Lydfords carer Ellie and two of our residents having fun with a seated exercise class, the smiles say it all!

Special dietary requests

Here at Lydfords, our talented chefs can cater to whole range of special dietary needs.

Our chef Enrico made these delicious banana and berry smoothies for our residents, which were both lactose and sugar free, our residents loved them!

Minibus Trip

At Lydfords we have our very own minibus so that our residents can enjoy getting out and about. Todays residents choice was a trip out to the garden centre, followed by a warming hot drink and a cake outside to enjoy the winter sunshine. Everyone had a lovely time in the sun.

Village Lunch Club Donation

At Lydfords, our ethos is to make sure that our home and its residents feel part of the wider community & we like to give back to the local community that have been so welcoming to us.

Today Lydfords Chef Enrico baked a homemade carrot cake and a homemade chocolate cake to donate to the local Village Lunch Club. The cakes went down a storm and all paid compliments to the chef.

Food Hygiene Inspection top marks

We are very pleased to announce that Lydfords has scored top marks for our Food Hygiene Inspection today, with the highest score of 5!

When environmental health officers undertake unannounced food hygiene inspections of food businesses they issue a rating between zero (meaning ‘urgent improvement necessary’) and a five (meaning ‘very good’).

The rating is based on the level of compliance found at the time of the inspection relating to food hygiene practices, structure/cleanliness and management controls in place to ensure food is produced safely.
