Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Carole Hierons

Activities Lead and Speak Up Champion

Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.

I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.

My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Our life enrichment virtual programme and partnership with V&A Dundee

At Barchester Care Homes we have a full life enrichment programme that residents can choose to take part in, including virtual talks and tours.

As part of our partnership with V&A Dundee we joined Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team, for an exciting virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries. From architecture and engineering, jewelry and textiles to theatre and performance.

The galleries contain a treasure trove of objects that span around 500 years of Scottish design and creativity.

English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra

We are delighted to announce that Barchester Care Homes will have another special virtual event.

This time we join members of English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Gavin Sutherland, to celebrate Last Night of the Proms.

We will be taken on a magical, musical journey with many of the country’s top musicians with insights and anecdotes into what it takes to conduct an orchestra for a world-class ballet company.
