Activities at Lynde House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators get a real buzz off their work here as enthusiasm is essential for the role. We decorate and celebrate for all the big annual events, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mothering Sunday and much more. There are also regular fixtures in our activities programme, including bingo, a sherry morning and quizzes, that are always well-attended. There's also an International Day that we hold to celebrate the wonderful ethnic diversity of our staff, where members of our team and their families give up their time to showcase their national costumes, dances and songs. Of course, we also have activities and services tailored to those residents who prefer the quiet life, such manicures or simply a friendly chat and a cup of tea. We always do our best to learn about residents' hobbies and interests and try to arrange our activities programme around their individual likes and dislikes.
Gitana Norvaisiene
Gitana Norvaisiene is our Life Enrichment Coordinator. She oversees and organises all social activities within the home. Although Gitana only recently took up the Coordinators role she was previously a carer at Lynde House. Within her first year she was honoured with being shortlisted at the National Barchester Awards in the category of Activities Coordinator of the year and also won with her team of residents and local school pupils the Barchester In Bloom best Flower display

Wearing our vaccination badges with pride!
The Lynde House team were delighted to be given badges to show recognition of vaccinations they have received, a sign to residents and colleagues they have had the vaccine to protect them. Resident Tony (96) commented “of course it makes me feel safer.” Resident Jean also said “it’s very pretty, maybe residents should all have one too!”
General Manager, Alison McIntosh said: “we will all be wearing these badges with pride, we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected’.
Our Big Garden Birdwatch
We stayed cosy and warm at Lynde House this weekend to take part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch and were rewarded by Parakeets in our garden! There are several rumours as to why so many tropical birds can be spotted around London including the birds escaped from the set of 1950s film The African Queen, which was being filmed at Isleworth Studios. Thank you again to Bill who sketched us his version of our garden birds
Lynde House Embraces Flower Power!
Residents celebrated International Flower Day on Tuesday 19th January. International Flower Day promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. From growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty – flowers have the power to make someone’s day.
Residents took part in flower-based activities throughout the day including a flower arranging competition and a flower quiz which everyone really enjoyed. Their collective knowledge about flowers gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive.
Alison McIntosh, General Manager said: “Our garden is a much loved space, residents really enjoy looking after the plants and flowers and watching them grow and change through the seasons. We don’t have many flowers at the moment so our residents very much enjoying having the fresh flowers to make their own arrangements to display around the home”.
