Activities at Lynde House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators get a real buzz off their work here as enthusiasm is essential for the role. We decorate and celebrate for all the big annual events, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mothering Sunday and much more. There are also regular fixtures in our activities programme, including bingo, a sherry morning and quizzes, that are always well-attended. There's also an International Day that we hold to celebrate the wonderful ethnic diversity of our staff, where members of our team and their families give up their time to showcase their national costumes, dances and songs. Of course, we also have activities and services tailored to those residents who prefer the quiet life, such manicures or simply a friendly chat and a cup of tea. We always do our best to learn about residents' hobbies and interests and try to arrange our activities programme around their individual likes and dislikes.

Life at Lynde House Care Home
Lynde supports Good Neighbours!
We are delighted to support Richmond Good Neighbours, run by Anne Speak from the ETNA Community Centre, with their delivery of gift bags to members in the community this week, Anne and her volunteers make such a difference to those living alone especially at this time of year. Our chef Andrew has been kept busy making over 100 mince pies and ginger cookies which filled the home with a delicious smell of Christmas while they cooked! Thank you team for helping a great local charity
Covid vaccinations underway for Lynde House staff
Our team were delighted to be invited to have the vaccination at St Georges hospital, which has lifted everyone’s spirits after what has been a very challenging year for everyone.
Khuskaran Kaur, Deputy Manager at Lynde House whose first appointment at St Georges was Friday 11th December said: “I am so pleased to be given the vaccine. It will help to keep our residents safe, and is the first step in getting things back to normal and having a buzz of visitors in the home once again”
General Manager, Alison McIntosh said: “We’ve had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.”

Supporting our local 'Blue Light' Services
Our team have received some wonderful gifts over the year from the community from handmade scrubs, hand cream, letters and cards together with cakes and biscuits!
We took Lynde House mince pies and biscuits out this week, visiting our ‘blue light services’ who have worked tirelessly to support the NHS and our local community this year. We talked to the teams about the challenges we have all overcome, our plans for a fun filled Christmas for residents and our hopes for 2021. The visits were all socially distanced and gifts suitably wrapped – thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome.
Garden illuminations and tree lights!
Preparations have been going on all week for a visit by His Worship the Mayor of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Geoff Acton and Mayoress to switch on our Christmas garden lights! Greeted by Alison McIntosh on his first visit to Lynde House he met Tony our Resident Ambassador in our Visiting Suite, gave a short speech to thank the residents for the invitation and staff for their hard work and commitment this year.
With residents and staff watching from the warm lounges inside we all counted down till he lit up our wonderful tree and stunning garden – it all looks amazing and really makes us feel festive. The mince pies, mulled wine and bubbly helped too
Thank you to all our fabulous team, Mayor and Mayoress for their efforts in making this a special evening for residents,
Inspiration for Christmas art!
Our Christmas trees around the home are inspiration for the painting and art by residents, it’s amazing to see how residents who have not enjoyed an art or craft activity for many years rediscovering their talent or indeed learn a new one. Sometimes we just need time, the right materials and encouragement – all of which we can provide!
