Activities at Marple Dale Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lewis Timperley

Activities Team Lead

Hi, my name is Lewis. I joined the team in September 2021 as a general assistant and then moved to the activities team in January 2022. Most recently I became Activities Team Leader in December 2023, it has been a great journey here at Marple Dale and can’t wait to continue. I love my role as one of the homes Activity Coordinators, and love finding out new and exciting ways to engage residents with activities and each other.

Here at Marple Dale we try to do as many different activities as we can, to keep our residents as active as possible, as it is so important to keep active. I love what I do and love knowing that our residents have so much enjoyment from such a wide variety of activities.

Viva la Espanol for Residents

Residents at Marple Dale enjoyed a taste of Spain as the home created a pop up themed restaurant as part of their round the world travels.  The lounge and dining areas were decorated with bunting and residents were greeted with a glass of sangria on arrival.    For many residents, they will have celebrated special occasions by dining out throughout their life so the home host themed evenings to recreate those special moments and residents love to share their stories from their travels.  Everyone had a wonderful evening and are looking forward to the next location.

Home creates Harvest display

Residents at Marple Dale have been creating a harvest display as they moved with the seasons.  Residents worked together to create their harvest display and sang some favourite hymns and songs before sitting back to enjoy a slice of home made cake and refreshments.

Residents receive letters from Ludworth School

Marple Dale Care Home in Marple have teamed up with Ludworth School for a newly launched pen pal scheme, connecting residents within their homes with creative writing pupils.

The children from Ludworth school recently wrote letters  to our residents where they told them a little about themselves, their likes and dislikes and were telling residents whether they had pets at home and how many siblings they had and where they lived.  The letters really brightened up the resident’s day and are planning on writing back.
