Activities at Marple Dale Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Lewis Timperley
Hi, my name is Lewis. I joined the team in September 2021 as a general assistant and then moved to the activities team in January 2022. Most recently I became Activities Team Leader in December 2023, it has been a great journey here at Marple Dale and can’t wait to continue. I love my role as one of the homes Activity Coordinators, and love finding out new and exciting ways to engage residents with activities and each other.
Here at Marple Dale we try to do as many different activities as we can, to keep our residents as active as possible, as it is so important to keep active. I love what I do and love knowing that our residents have so much enjoyment from such a wide variety of activities.

Life at Marple Dale Care Home
Residents enjoy 'blooming' afternoon
Residents of Maple Dale enjoyed an afternoon of flower arranging to help decorate their home with late summertime blooms. Everyone enjoyed assorting the flowers to create beautiful arrangements in various vases while having a catch-up over a cup of tea.
Clare Burke, activities coordinator at Marple Dale, said: “Everyone really enjoyed the flower arranging activity. Our home looks and smells even lovelier now the beautiful blooms are on display and we have many residents who are green-fingered and find these sessions therapeutic.”
Residents enjoy story-telling
Marple Dale had a treat in store for their resident bookworms on September 13th as residents all joined in to celebrate to stories written by Roald Dahl.
Residents at Marple dale care Centre celebrated some of the most cherished and well known Roald Dahl stories by joining in by reading the story ‘We’re going on a treasure hunt’ to the local day nursery in Marple virtually. They also made some Golden coins for the children to do their own treasure hunt at their nursery and gave them the book to go with it for their nursery teacher to read out aloud. Residents continued the afternoon watching Charlie and the chocolate factory before a short story and found out some interesting facts about the great author, Roald Dahl.
Residents welcome furry friend
Residents at Marple Dale enjoyed a special visit as part of the homes celebration of International Dog Day as they welcomed a four legged friend who belongs to one of the staff members.
Their furry friend was a cute brown chocolate Labrador who was such a friendly dog and brought joy to the homes residents. Residents took him for a walk around the grounds and the residents got to feed him with special doggy biscuits.
Resident moves to rehab
Marple Dale welcomed Resident, Mike 8-months ago where the prognosis was not good and the neurological department were of the opinion he would not make a full recovery. With the care and support received Mike during the last few months and the improvements in his health, the home bid a very emotional fond farewell as Mike took up a place a local neuro hospital with the hope he will make a significant recovery to be able to walk again.
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside…
Residents of Marple Dale enjoyed a trip to the seaside without having to leave the comfort of their own home. Regular trips out are unable to happen during the current pandemic and the activities team continue to create positive experiences for Residents with a variety of themed days.
As the sun shone, the homes extensive gardens were transformed as the sounds of beach music played, playing games of beach volley ball, paddling and feeling the sand beneath their toes. It was a fun filled afternoon with lots of laughter. Residents cooled off with refreshing ice-cream and soft drinks.
Resident step up
Residents of Marple Dale have been following exercise classes on YouTube and have being putting their best foot forward to walk one mile walk daily working up a heartbeat.
