Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Scrabble with Steve

Who doesn't love a game of scrabble especially when you get to play it on a giant board. We always enjoy our visit from Steve with his giant scrabble board, we get into teams and see what words we come up with. A fun morning had by all and everyone had- their thinking caps on as well.

August Open Day

On Saturday we had our open day and thought we would have some wonderful entertainment and amazing food for everyone to enjoy. We started with singer Mike Sidaway in the morning and he had everyone singing along to the many songs he performed.

We then served a wonderful afternoon tea which the catering team put together and the cakes were to die for.

We then finished the day with The Band of The Royal British Legion Christchurch and you may notice that one of our members of staff Laura who is Home Services Advisor in the home also plays in the band and plays the saxophone. They finished their set with the song we all know Sweet Caroline which had residents and visitors singing and dancing along.

All residents, family members and visitors had a wonderful time and we look forward to welcoming you along to our next event.

Afternoon social in the garden

When the sun is shining which doesn't happen very often at the moment! What better place to be than in the garden enjoying tea and cake and having a sing-a-long with our activities coordinator Bibesh. We have such beautiful gardens here that look out onto Avon Heath Country Park, a very lovely place to be.

Sunflower planting

We have been growing our sunflowers from seeds to these rather large plants in our gardening group. We have now transferred these plants into the garden to see how tall they really get.

Marjorie even helped to give them a good water once they were planted into the ground. Gardening is so therapeutic and our residents enjoy it too.

Cooking up a storm
