Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Courtyard Christmas Lights

The Moreton Hill court yard is looking very festive and by night the lights are beautiful and so many of our residents' rooms have this view.

Designing the Moreton Hill Christmas Cake

Residents selected the design for this year's Christmas cake and set to work creating. We have been adding plenty of sherry infect even the smell could make you feel merry! The traditional marzipan layer was added and then our Christmas gift was made!

Piping Around the Home

The sound of bag pipes echoed around Moreton Hill.  What an absolute delight to have a piper playing tunes outside and around the home, this really was enjoyed by all the residents.

Happy 100th Birthday Pauline

Happy 100th Birthday Pauline.  Pauline celebrated in style with fellow Moreton Hill residents enjoying a special cake made by Stuart and his team accompanied with prosecco.  In the afternoon Pauline went out for high tea with family at Stonehouse Court Hotel nearby.

Even more exciting we get to do it all again on Friday as Ham celebrates his 100th Birthday!

A few interesting facts about 1921 which was obviously a good year!  The world was recovering from a pandemic with 27% of the world's population infected with Spanish Flu.  Southern Ireland and Northern Ireland were formed.   For those born in 1921 life expectancy for a woman was 60 and a man 58.  The average UK house price was less than £500 and a pint of milk just over a penny.

Moreton Hill Traditions

Moreton Hill was Barchester's first care home, there are traditions that are still in place today including every resident making a decoration for the Christmas trees around the home. Over the past few weeks residents have been making painted wooden and felt decorations, as well as bobble hats. These beautiful creations were placed on the trees today as residents enjoyed decorating our largest trees whilst enjoying some panettone - it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....
