Activities at Mount House and Severn View
Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.
Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.
Joyce Morgan
Hello I am Joyce the Activities Coordinator. I am new to the care sector having worked as a florist with my own business and I am loving this change of direction. I am committed to ensuring the residents have a varied activities programme as well celebrating events. I am following the Barchester Life Enrichment Programme of working with mind, body and soul. I do also love to dance with the residents when we have an entertainer in!

Life at Mount House and Severn View
Celebrating Barchester's 30 Years of Care
Mount House and Severn View residents and staff celebrated Barchester’s 30 years of care in style with an afternoon of celebrations. The home was beautifully decorated with balloons by local company Alexa and Bud and we were delighted that the regular volunteers from Shrewsbury School could also join in the celebrations. We are surrounded by such a great community so it was wonderful to share this special occasion.
Thank you so much to the team here at The Mount House and Severn View who really do go the extra mile to make these events so successful.
Stunning Floral Arrangements
Mount House and Severn View residents created some stunning floral arrangements that are now on display around the home. Flower arranging is always a popular activity and we are so fortunate to have qualified florest Joyce's expertise guiding residents, they are getting very good!
Lest we Forget
Today Mount House and Severn View residents and staff observed the 2 minute silence, an important time for reflection.
Residents have worked hard creating Remembrance Day displays around the home. We spent time writing remembrance messages, many of our residents are in their 90s so can remember World War 2 and its impact.
Shrewsbury School Students Regular Visits
Mount House and Severn View residents love their weekly visits from the students at Shrewsbury School, the students engage so well with the residents, there is a real buzz when they visit. Board games and puzzles are always high up on the list of activities that everyone enjoys and a perfect opportunity for a chat while playing. Thank you very much to all who attend, we look forward to welcoming you back following the half term break.
Interactive Games
Mount House and Severn View residents thoroughly enjoy playing the interactive games on the big screen. It is great as so visual and also fun to play when family visit. Aside from the enjoyment there are other benefits to online games including improving hand / eye coordination, engaging the brain and it is proven to reduce stress - just don't tell your teenagers!
Halloween Treats for Little Explorers
There were no tricks only treats for Mount House and Severn View's regular visitors from Liittle Explorers. We had our own Halloween party with fun and games, facepainting and spending time with residents. All the children were delighted to go home with their own goodie bag.
