Activities at Mount House and Severn View

Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.

Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Life at Mount House and Severn View

Singing to reminisce

Singing to reminisce

We absolutely love having Kate to come and perform for us at the mount. Her soft and gentle voice is loved by all, the session is very interactive as she encourages requests which keeps the residents engaged. “It’s a long way to Tipperary” and “Daisy Daisy” were two of the residents favourites songs, this ensured the residents were clapping and singing along for the duration.

Outing to 'The dingle'

Outing to 'The dingle'

We are very lucky to live so close to such a beautiful flower garden nestled in the huge park in Shrewsbury town. The residents enjoyed a packed lunch of a selection of sandwiches, crisps and chocolate treats whilst watching the children play by the fountain. The colors of the flowers were mesmerizing and the gardens are beautifully kept. We look forward to returning to ‘The dingle’ to take a walk around the wonderful lake very soon.

 Vintage tea party

Vintage tea party

The residents at the mount enjoyed a vintage tea party this week, complete with a number of different cakes including Lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut, carrot cake and a delicious chocolate fudge cake. The lounge was decorated with pretty bunting and fresh flowers as the residents sipped from dainty floral tea cups whilst listening to classical music. We are hoping to make this a regular weekly event and we would love to extend an invite to all families and friends, the more the merrier!

Cocktail Making

Residents had a great time making some cocktails. The end results were delicious and we will definitely be doing this activity again.

Royal Wedding Celebrations

The Mount House held a royal party for all residents, relatives and staff in the main communal areas at the home.

Mount House celebrated the special day with jugs of homemade Pimm's whilst the residents watched the royal ceremony on the television. Shortly after, a buffet lunch was served, musical entertainment was provided by pianist, Christopher Simms, and then afternoon tea was provided at 3:30 p.m.

International Nurses' Day

Mount House & Severn View celebrated International Nurse’s Day to recognise and reward the important work and dedication of nurses everywhere, who often go above and beyond the call of duty. Our Nurses and care staff make a real difference to the lives of those in our care.

The nurses were awarded various gifts for their hard work and dedication, including a specially designed water bottle to help make sure that they are drinking enough throughout their shifts, a delicious box of chocolates and a selection of doughnuts.
