Activities at Mount House and Severn View

Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.

Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Sea, Sand & Sangria

On Saturday 28 July 2018, we hosted our very own Seaside Day! Throughout the day, Sangria was available to all residents and relatives, along with a traditional fish & chip lunch. There was also plenty of ice cream to go around! We then enjoyed musical entertainment from Watkins Productions!

Sun, sea and sand day!

Sun, sea and sand day!

A wonderful day was had by all at our Sun, sea and sand day here at The Mount, our home was full of visitors who all wanted their photo taken behind the giant beach themed display boards, much to the residents’ amusement. We all ate fish and chips out of trays and enjoyed a delicious ice cream for dessert. The beach themed games had everyone laughing and reminiscing about old times at the seaside. We are already looking forward to our next Open day!

Baking club

Baking club

Baking is an activity that is always well attended. Whether this is because it brings back memories or that it keeps those life skills going, either way the residents thoroughly enjoy it. Melting the chocolate and mixing it in with the rice crispies was a real blast from the past. Once they were set and we shared them out to all we all sat down to discuss what we would like to make next. Bread baking seems to be the winner!

Stain glass window painting

Stain glass window painting

We like to mix our arts and crafts sessions up a little at The Mount, as well as the usual art therapy sessions we decided to try our hands at Stain glass window painting. These easy to use templates were fantastic and they brighten up the garden room. Residents and visitors have commented on the beautiful colors projecting through the window.

Singing to reminisce

Singing to reminisce

We absolutely love having Kate to come and perform for us at the mount. Her soft and gentle voice is loved by all, the session is very interactive as she encourages requests which keeps the residents engaged. “It’s a long way to Tipperary” and “Daisy Daisy” were two of the residents favourites songs, this ensured the residents were clapping and singing along for the duration.

Outing to 'The dingle'

Outing to 'The dingle'

We are very lucky to live so close to such a beautiful flower garden nestled in the huge park in Shrewsbury town. The residents enjoyed a packed lunch of a selection of sandwiches, crisps and chocolate treats whilst watching the children play by the fountain. The colors of the flowers were mesmerizing and the gardens are beautifully kept. We look forward to returning to ‘The dingle’ to take a walk around the wonderful lake very soon.
