Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.

I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.

I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.

I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home

Royal Parks London

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

103rd birthday celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Mount Vale Care Home, as one of its residents reaches beyond her centenary in style.  Marian Macey was joined by staff and other residents as she received recognition of reaching 103 years. A celebration was held at the home and residents enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Dana Narkeviciene.  Paul Cornfoot, Deputy Mayor of Northallerton and Marian’s family attended th the celebrations, bringing gifts of flowers/

'Tis the season to be jolly

Barchester’s Mount Vale care home, in Northallerton got in the Christmas spirit by holding their Christmas Fair for residents, their families and the local community.   There was huge excitement at Mount Vale as Santa and his reindeers came by to visit the event ahead of their big night delivering presents on Christmas Eve.-  General Manager, Helen Lewis said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and our fantastic residents love to get festive so we’ve pulled out all the stops.  It is so lovely to see them all getting into the Christmas spirit. We had lots of families and friends from the local community visit to see the reindeers especially”
