Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mount Vale Care Home

World Health Day
Staff and residents have been marking World Health Day by taking part in a range of different activities to promote good health.
World Health Day took place in April. The idea behind the day is to shine a light on the benefits of good health and wellbeing around the whole world. Each year, World Health Day has a different focus - the theme for 2025 is ‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures.’ On its 77th anniversary, the World Health Organisation wants to champion improving maternal and newborn health and survival.
The staff and residents got into the spirit of the day by taking part in an exercise class with Mark – Mr Motivator, before taking part in an organised walk where residents did several laps of the garden.

Easter celebrations
Staff and residents celebrated Easter with an Easter Egg hunt for local nursery children with a visit from the Easter Bunny. Residents enjoyed an eggs-tensive morning with Looby Lous childcare, where they engaged in an Easter egg hunt, colour therapy and Easter-themed games.
General Manager, Trudi Gillespie, said: “At Mount Vale we love to see young ones meet our residents. It brings both parties so much fun. To see the smiles on everyone's faces makes our hearts melt. I am so proud to be part of a team that really does care. Mount Vale is a fantastic home with staff that go above and beyond. "We have the most brilliant, beautiful, fun residents and every day is a fun day in Mount Vale.”

Residents enter Easter cake competition
Excitement is running high as residents and staff have been cooking up a storm to enter parent company Barchester Healthcare’s Easter Cake competition. Details of the competition were announced earlier this year and the home has been busy coming up with what they hope will be a winning design.
Staff and residents put their heads together and donned their aprons to come up with a scrumptious cake that they think encapsulates the themes and flavours of Easter. Mount Vale fabulous cake consists of delicious ingredients such as chocolate, chocolate fingers and, not forgetting, mini eggs. The residents decided to call in Henrietta’s nesting surprise.

Home donate to local Children's Ward
Staff and relatives have been busy collecting chocolate Easter Eggs to donate to the local children's unit, within South Tees Friarage Hospital.
Staff members and one of the volunteers, Denise, attended the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton to donate over 30 Easter eggs to the children's day unit. Denise kindly volunteered her time and dressed up as the Easter Bunny to add Easter magic to all who saw her.

International Carrot Day
Today, we have celebrated International Carrot Day. Residents and staff wore a variety of carrot-themed outfits, carrot colours, and headgear.
Residents came together to make carrot muffins and decorate them. Residents were treated to carrots and dips alongside a brew.
Residents then attended The Willow Beck this afternoon for a happy hour and carrot-themed quiz. Enjoy a wide range of drinks and snacks.

Mother's Day
Here at Mount Vale, we celebrated Mother’s Day over three days, including a visit from popular vocalist, Pete Johnson, who performed a medley of our favourite songs, including Sweet Caroline.
We spent time together and showed our creative sides in creating some wonderful artwork, designing cheese boards and trinket boxes, while enjoying some wonderful Mothers' Day cakes.
Families joined residents for a wonderful Sunday roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings made by our second chef Dana. All our ladies at Mount Vale, we're given a little treat to celebrate the day.
Happy Mother's Day!
