Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home
The sun has got his hat on!
The sun has been shining, so we took full advantage of it and has spent time in the garden, playing ball games and singing. We loved looking at the amazing flowers and vegetables growing, we cant wait to sample them
A wholesome Sunday morning
A very wholesome Sunday here on Memory Lane! From watering our plants and painting our pots this morning, to a relaxing afternoon with a hot chocolate and our homemade treats. We’ve been singing and dancing away, as we always are.
Nurse celebrates 10-years service
A Registered Nurse at Mount Vale care home in Northallerton has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for over 10 years. Liza Valmonte, Registered Nurse, started at Barchester in May 2012 and has worked with residents and their relatives in our Memory Lane community to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
The King is in the building!
Residents love their regular visits from Elvis and enjoy these live performances. Valerie and Elsie enjoyed it so much and were soon on their feet to have a little dance. Elvis charms the ladies as he presents each with flowers, these popular performances are a firm fixture on the homes life enrichment programme and everyone sings along!
Conversations by the Pond
We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.
Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.
The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.
Easter cake competition
This is the Easter cake that our Chef Dana made for our residents at Easter. As you can see it’s fabulous and all completely edible and hand made. It tasted absolutely delicious. Fingers crossed we win!!
