Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home

Nurse celebrates 10-years service

A Registered Nurse at Mount Vale care home in Northallerton has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for over 10 years.

Susan Rowley, now Registered Nurse, started at Barchester in February 2012 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Virtual cookery demonstration

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration.  Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.

Chinese New Year

We welcomed in the Year of the Tiger with a day of celebrations and activities.

The Chinese New Year is China’s most important festival that celebrated the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar calendar.

Inspired by Chinese culture and traditions, our residents enjoyed a creative session with Chinese New Year DIY dragons and made beautiful lanterns to mark the day.

We all enjoyed some music from Greater China, watched last year’s celebrations and had a discussion about the animals associated with the Chinese zodiac. It was a fun day.

Nursery pay a visit

We had a visit from the children at Rosedene Nursery today in aid of ‘Blue Monday’. The children brought a beautiful hamper full of treats for our Residents to make them smile. It truly did make them smile, our Residents were thrilled.

102nd birthday celebrations!

Marian celebrated her 102nd Birthday yesterday. She loved her Flowers, Balloons and huge cake made by our Chef Dan.

Marian had a lovely afternoon tea along with Residents.

Magic table fun at Mount Vale

We are still in the festive spirit here at Mount Vale with a magical afternoon using our Magic Table.

The Magic Table uses interactive games to connect residents with staff and with each other, and research shows it improves the wellbeing of people living with dementia.

This afternoon we played a Christmas snakes & ladders followed by packing the parcels for Santa! Even our little furry friend, Bambi got involved in the fun!
